This thread just turned out expensive. I pulled the trigger on a new Sony 200-600/5.6-6.3 G OSS. It should arrive the day after tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing many great images. I surely have a learning curve ahead of me.
Congrats, Bjorn! You will enjoy the lens as others here do...

Lovely image Dave
Thank you.
I should have a lot more coming.
This is the first buck that we've seen with it's velvet removed.
With some luck ... ok, a lot of luck, I'll stumble onto a couple of them removing it.
Then comes the rut.
Should be some four legged photos coming for a while.

Hi Douglas, did you re-buy the 200-600? I remember you had sold it not too long ago. Just curious.
Hi Hodie, yes, I did re-buy the 200-600. I thought it would get little use since I bought the 600 GM, but I missed the MFD of the 200-600 for the hummingbirds that are usually about 8 feet away from my study. The 600 GM won't work there and the 100-400 GM+1.4 TC is just not as bright at f8.
I saw that you just got an A1? Congrats! I bet you didn't think you would get it this fast but all the pictures posted in the A1 thread didn't help.
Some shots with the 200-600 from Sunday, I shot most of the show with the 600mm GM+1.4 TC to get some real closeups.

Re: the 200-600, gotcha and yes, I can see the rationale there. It's a super useful lens.
Re: the A1. Yes thanks! I did indeed pick one up. I honestly didn't think I would a few months ago, but after toying with having both the A7RIV and A9, for what I want to shoot, having those combined into one camera totally made sense. I had to sell an extra lens for it, but one that I didn't use too much (24 GM), so I'm pretty happy.

Congratulations Hodie on your A1! Great move. Such a wonderful tool.
