Thanks. They are certainly photogenic when on the hunt. Wish there was a little more light or cleaner backgrounds but can't change that. I posted more in the A1 thread.

Looking at a Snowy Egret in Breeding Plumage raising one of its "Yellow Slippers".
Cropped, tripod mounted 200-600mm G set to 594mm and A7rIII; silent shutter.
ISO 200, f6.3, 1/500 second.
Exposure Corrected +0.59 Stops.

First airshow, used the 200-600 and A1. What is the "cloud" around the plane? Is that the sound barrier or a speed where it condenses the air around it? Thanks

Hi Andy, nice shots! this was from AC? I was there too. I posted some pictures in the A1 thread. The "cloud" around the jets happens when the jets are flying close to the speed of sound, with the right humidity. It was pretty humid in AC last Wed so i was surprised the jets didn't make much prominent vapor cones, maybe they weren't flying fast enough.

I am handheld 99% with this lens. I have a Wimberley sidekick that I rarely use on a monopod or tripod. Not a full gimbal but works for me. I dont do video.

I got this one late last year; price has gone up dramatically and can be used with other lenses and for different purposes and much smaller and lighter than my RRS Full Gimbal:
The head is modular; the handle doesn't need to be used, the support for under the lens (an L support) can be removed or added to save weight and allowing the lens to be side mounted and to be used with a camera L bracket for usage for other lenses, panoramic work, etc. It like most Gimbal heads work best if you have a leveling base.
I use Arca Swiss type QR clamps and plates on my tripod and under my heads including the E-6H to quickly change heads and share them with my different tripods. It adds weight but allows for quick changes and smaller packages to carry.
