This a test. I have discovered that resizing TIF files for posting here results in Exif data being stripped. So I have exported this file as a JPEG and resized hoping that Exif data is retained and displayed with image. Please bear with me.

And you couldn't use a separate thread for your tests because?

Awesome image. Love the head on look and the wing position. Well done!

While I was shooting the Snow Buntings (few pages back now) I had some other visitors (which was a good thing since the Snow Buntings would come and go for long stretches).

The Harrier (one of my nemesis birds) sat there for a good 5 minutes (they never sit that long) and I didn't want to get closer and spook him. I just hoped he fly towards me with that nice light but as usual it just showed me his tail feathers and flew away

I went out to the Zoo to try and learn the subtleties of shooting my new (to me) 200-600mm lens. It is different that shooting my 100-400mm lens. A bit more fussy with focus I am finding.

I found a grumpy little mess of a bird so I shot an image of him. I had the 1.4 TC on at the time.

Enjoy!

This was a long distance shot over 150 yards, which was heavily cropped to reduced file size, but still exceeded size limit for posting here. At least I hope the Exif data now shows up.

Hey, I like to post shots that are roughly 1200-1500 pixels wide on FM. The best way to accomplish that is to use JPEGs all the time, since the file size is smaller than a TIF (given the file size restrictions on FM). I am fairly certain that you have the "remove EXIF data" option selected in your export. Not sure what software you are using but resizing does not remove EXIF data; however, it may be stripped at the point of export, depending on your settings locally.

Thanks. My post processing flow had been to open and edit raw file in Capture One Express for Sony. I initially exported to tif thinking I was preserving the most detail, but found the file sizes were huge. So I changed to exporting to jpeg. Since I can't add watermarks in Capture One Express, I use AfterShot3 Pro for that task, and as you suspected, I initially did not have the Exif data selected for export, so I have fixed that. My challenge now is when I run Topaz De-noise to jpeg files either before or after applying watermark the metadata disappears in AfterShot3 Pro. It still appears when I look at images in Windows Photo Viewer, but if I apply watermark it disappears there also.

So far the only way I have been to get it to work is to add watermark to my original tif files and export as resized jpegs which doesn't make sense to me.

At one spot where I do a lot of my local birding a well sought elusive target is the Ridgeway Rail. I have been fortunate to get a few shots that I thought I would share.

It looks like you are in San Diego area. What locations are you shooting?

Had the fun of seeing these Baldies last week. They never got really close enough for the perfect picture but boy they were really flying. Had counted at least 12 (which is a lot for this area).

All shot with the Sony 200-600 plus 2xTC

Thanks Dan.

Yes, these are Trumpeter Swans. We don't get Snow Geese around here.
This was one of the few shots that was very close to being uncropped, just a slight correction of the horizon.

The temps are warming some, and these guys probably won't being around here much longer, so I have to get them while I can.

This winter was tough to get shots with sunlight.
We had one stretch of 60 days with only 6 days of sun. Taking 'pretty' shots under those skies is a challenge.
Anyway, thanks again for the kind words.
