This is the Kingfisher species I find in my area. One of my favorite bird subjects to photograph and to watch. Always something going on with these little, but mighty birds like fishing, or defending their territory. Almost always on the move. When I hear their song I always run off to see what they are doing. I've never been able to get this close as you have in this series. Nicely done 👏

Black Oystercatchers in flight....A9/200-600 even with the 1.4TC on had a very high hit rate on these guys....I'm more and more impressed with how well this lens does for BIF AF tracking on the A9...the 1.4TC doesn't introduce a big handicap either....happy to have an 800mm combo I can handhold for BIF with reliable results....

I considered myself very lucky, being able to capture these at a fairly short distance last week. I have not been able to catch similar actions using my GM lens in the last 4 outings.

Messing around with the A6400 and 2XTC with the 200-600mm. The loss of PDAF at f/13 on the A6400 is very obvious. However, I was surprised at the detail it captured at these ISO's plus I was handholding. Next time will definitely use the monopod.
Note: I did not blur or mess with the backgrounds , only noise reduction on the backgrounds.

Maybe a bit of rolling shutter on the wings? I was using electronic shutter.

I'm more and more impressed with this lens. The versatility and sharpness. These are not really action shots as I only shot the 200-600 pregame as the 7pm start time was just too dark for me to use this lens (especially since I am fortunate enough to have the 400 2.8GM). Next week's game is a noon start, so I may use it a lot more and maybe even leave the 400 at home so I'm not tempted to go to the 400. Oh, and maybe the team in orange and white will win a game for a change.
I think most of these are somewhere between 400 and 600 but can't recall off hand.
