It's still been a challenge to get a good day to really put it through its paces.
The skies have not been helping around here.
The street lights were still on an hour after sunrise, and even when they went off, it wasn't much brighter.

I am pretty sure this is a Coopers Hawk (and not a Sharp Skinned). Size and the rounded tail feathers are what make me believe that but if a better identifier has a different opinion please let me know!

Thank you very much, Leon! The 1.4X TC barely puts a dent in the AF and IQ performance of the lens. Until several months ago, I used to reserve the TC for my prime GM lens but not now anymore.

a7R4, 200-600, 1.4 tc.
The sun was out today, and I feel I have a handle on this set up.
It shouldn't be used to stretch the reach of the lens, it doesn't work.
But on closer subjects, it can help fill the frame.
This gull was about as far as I should shoot, about 100 - 150 feet with this combo.
After this, it loses sharpness fast.
Even this shot needed a dose of Topaz to sharpen it up.

Got out in the backyard blind, nice to have the snow on the ground (something different). Obviously I'm shooting really low at eye level for these birds feeding on the ground.
