I know, it's an awful photo.
I was trying my tc's on the 200-600, on my a9 and a7R4.
The 7R4 hates tc's on the 200-600, the a9 is ok with them on either the 100-400, or the 200-600.
The 2x needs to be stopped down ⅔ of a stop, this shot wasn't.

a9, 200-600, 2x tc, @ 1200mm

2nd Outing with the lens, not too many wildlife opportunities, like the result of this shot. 600mm wide open

Thank you, Dan! I drove to Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge for the snow geese yesterday, didn't see any, just some swans, herons, ducks, and avocets, all pretty far away. So the sunrise shots were my consolation prizes.

Indeed it can! Douglas's images of Arlington Natl Cemetery, the Iwo Jima Memorial et al are beautiful landscapes and shows the excellent diversity of this combo.

Got out in the blind at lunch this afternoon, it was in the low 30s and a few snow flakes were falling. We have a Carolina Wren, Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrow and Northern Cardinal

Just looked at this post on a different monitor (I edited on my calibrated iMac) and the cardinal's reds look really blown on on this one. Anyone else see that or is it just this uncalibrated monitor?

Common firecrest, this little one didn't give me much time to react and that's the only picture that came out in focus.

Nice shots. The red on the Cardinal's head on my screen is bordering of being blown, but still IMO acceptable.
By the way - maybe check out Carolina Wrens - I suspect your "house" wren is one of those

If you were asking about my three shots, the mourning pigeon (the first one) was shot at full frame mode, cropped away about 15% of the frame, the full JPEG file is 36MP. The second picture (Carolina Chickadee) was shot at APS-C mode, then cropped away 60% of the frame, the JPEG file is 5.6MP, the bufflehead was shot at APS-C mode, cropped away maybe 50% of the frame, the JPEG file is 7.7MP.

A couple shots from this morning, shot through the patio door.
