Since my subjects are also 90% small birds, I got the 1.4TC and it basically hasn't come off the lens since. It makes an enormous difference.
Thats extremely encouraging thanks , you , Geoff and others rate the x1.4TC so I'll definitely get one ordered . I was looking at the A7R4 too and even considering trying the Canon R5 but I love using the A9ii , apart from running out of MP's at times I can't fault it

it's a great lens for this price. I know many wouldn't mind paying more for it. I remember when it was first leaked, everybody was shocked that it was internal zoom, then we were all pleasantly surprised by MSRP.
Hope you got your through the B&H EDU deal!
....and shocked how well it takes the 1.4TC and shocked by the short throw from 200 to 600mm.
I just dread dread dread the day I can't lift it.
I know most 99% of zooms are shot at the full reach, but last year on a Kissimmee Lakes air boat tour so many times the bierds would pop up close and the 200 and 300 zones paid off.
I'm still loving the 100-400 on the Riv, my forced favorite just because of weight, but the 200-600 has been just a huge gift from Sony and for so many of us.
