I got the TZE-01 Monday and brought my very first E-Mount lens Voigtlander 110mm F2.5 APO Lanthar Macro yesterday afternoon. It works very well. Aperture works controlled by the Z camera, focus confirmation works. Exif record the aperture setting correctly. Now it made me want to swap the Voigtlander 50 F1.2 M and Voigtlander 15 F4.5 III M to E mount.

All handholding, I think my hand not steady enough.

Keith, are you sure it's controlling aperture via the body? Have you checked exposure and DoF over a series stopping down? My understanding (and I don't know about the 110 in particular) is that those were manual apertures, even on Sony's they're controlled on the lens, not the body.

Ha, I know the girls in the shot and someone pointed it out to me. That's me holding a Z6 with the Loxia 85. Shots from the parade here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmEPjFNG

I also maintain that the camera adds 10 pounds. Probably ate too much funnel cake though.

Hmm, maybe you are right. It doesn't make sense. Let me try more. Just took few pics of it and didn't touch it today. Let me try it again later day.

Let us know, thanks. But not a terrible, thing, just leave the body at f/2 and control via the lens. Won't record aperture but exposure will be fine if you leave it at f/2.

If you want to match aperture, i posted a how to above somewhere.

just check again. You are right. so in order to record the aperture setting. I have to both change the lens ring and aperture sub-dial to the same number.

Yes, but you also have to watch out and possibly use exposure compensation, especially smaller than 5.6 in particular. It’s because of how the Z would normally control the lens aperture.

Today I tried Tried these on my z7 via this adapter
35mm 1.4za
50mm 1.4za
85mm gm 1.4
Canon 85 1.2 lii via Mc-11 just for laughs

35, 50, were pretty decent in good light. Eye af worked fine. I wouldn’t trust this on moving subjects at all. Might be useful for still portrait work.
The 85 gm was a bit slower and pulsed a bit .... probably ok for static portraits in single shot.
The 85 1.2 canon was a joke , but this was never meant to work anyway.
Might make sense to keep this for certain 2 camera situations and to get the better color science out of these lenses for static portraits.

Will use on a real shoot next week and report back!

I finally received the Kipon adapter for adapting Sony E-Mount lenses to the Nikon Z7. This is a DUMB adapter and works perfectly for allowing the Venus 100mm 2x APO macro to function, i.e. let's the shutter release fire. The TechArt TZE-01 would not let the shutter fire.

As for the lens itself, very short focus throw which is terrible for the close focus that 2x requires. I will keep it for use on very close insect shots, but if I stack anything, I will have to put it on a focus rail. Otherwise the Venus/Laowa 100mm F/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Sony FE seems to work OK. Will check it out.

Now that I have picked up the 500 PF I've been eyeing the Z system a little bit more as a Sony shooter. If the 85 S really gets announced soon I could swap over nearly my whole kit fairly seamlessly. I would go from:

a7Riii
FE 16-35 f/4
FE 28
FE55
FE85
FE 90 Macro

to:
z6
FE 16-35 f/4
35S
50S
85S
FE 90 Macro
Techart adapter

I wonder how well the adapter would work with my 16-35 and 90 Macro? I would also consider swapping my 90 Macro for the Nikon 105 VR to be used with the FTZ adapter as an alternative.

Has anyone tried this with a 16-35 GM? 100-400 GM? Didn't see them mentioned, but very curious to see

Not bad. Similar to a7rII or even better, quite usable.
But for live macro DSLR AF is faster.

I have tested to stack the TZE-01 with MC-11 and used the 300 2.8 non-is on the Z6. AF is completly crap and never stops hunting. Manual focus by wire works though, and that lens is beatiful with the Nikon sensor.

I'm interested in testing with the Metabones MkIV or V. Would really like to this working, at least AF good enough for portraits.

I bought the TZE-01 for my Z7 since buying the A9 + 100-400 GM & 1.4TC for birding.
Tried them on the Z7. Everything worked except when I had the 100-400+1.4, I could take a picture but the display seemed to freeze and nothing would free it. I would turn off the camera and turn it on again and everything would be alright until it happened again and again. After a shot or 2, no display. Problem is only with the 1.4. Without it, the 100-400 seemed to work well.
I have not had time to go out with it taking pictures nor playing more to see what I have to do to cause the problem (or not to).

Dear Communty,

There is a buying decision you maybe could help me with, as you review the two Voigtländer 40f1.2. I am interested in the 50f1.2 (M or E) on a Nikon Z6:

I want to get a new camera (switching from Fuji), considering a Sony A7iii, a A7Riii and a Z6.
I usually don't need 42 MP but I am considering the A7Riii because of its better EVF compared to the A7iii. Therefore the Z6 is interesting too. Moreover, the Z6 seems to perform better in dynamic range in the underexposed area and the A7iii in the overexposed. The first is more important to me.

Hence the AF is not a critical issue for me but the EVF and the Display even more than in case of AF-lenses. I want to use a Voigtländer Nokton 50f1.2 (available for E and M-Mount) with manual focus due to its high aperture compared to a Z 50f1.8 and due to its small size compared to ZeissSony 50f1.4 or Sigma 50f1.4.

I am also planing to get a Batis 25f2 (E-Mount) or Voigtländer 21f1.4 (E-Mount) or Voigtländer 21f1.8 (M-Mount).

If my decision will be the Nikon Z6 over the Sonys, I have to consider the following:

Would it be better to adopt Voigtländer E-Mount or M-Mount-Lenses?

Techart offers an E-Z-adapter which would even allow AF in case of the Batis25f2. I could also use the Voigtländer E 21f1.4.

With the upcoming Voigtländer M-Z-CloseFocus adapter or the already available Novoflex M-Z-adapter I could "only" use the Voigtländer M 21f1.8 on the wide angle side.

As for the Voigtländer 50f1.2 I have both options. But I don't want to use two different adapters. Therefore my options would be:

Using the E-Z-adapter: Voigtländer E 21f1.4 or Batis 25f2 + Voigtländer E 50f1.2

Using an M-Z-adapter: Voigtländer M 21f1.8 + Voigtländer M 50f1.2

Could anyone offer advice which of these options has advantage over the other?

As of yet I identified the following advantages:

E-Mount lenses: Use of faster 21mm or use of Batis25 with AF / In case of future switch to Sony I would just have to buy the camera and nothing else / maybe EXIF communication

M-mount lenses: More independent as I could keep the lenses even if I switched to Canon R or Panasonic S1 and I could use the 50f1.2 on a GX9 as a fast Portrait lens with perfect focal length for portraits.

Thanks for reading,

Tommy
