I just picked up the 01 version of this adapter used for $150. I recently switched from Nikon to Sony but still have an astro modded z7 I want to be able to use. I havent had a chance to see if it creates any backfocus or tilt issues on stars, but it worked immediately with the GM 24 1.4, 50 1.2, and 135 1.8. The autofocus works surprisingly well. I think this is gonna do exactly what I need it to. Impressively the lens functions as if it were a Nikon. I can turn the manual focus ring and the camera automatically adjusts to manual focus (something I miss on the A1). Using FW 3.40 on the Z7 and zero issues so far.

I took my Z7 and the TZE-01 to the local camera store for testing on Sony brand lenses. To my surprise, the completely charged battery was dead. In other words, the adapter obviously drained the almost like new condition original Nikon battery in about 15 hours. The shopkeeper was kind enough to charge the battery a bit for me, so I could test the TZE-01 with their Sony lenses. Naturally, I got the same result as with my Sigma 105mm Macro Art. I now feel certain that there is something wrong with the adapter, so I am discussing the return with the previous owner.

For reference, I just received my brand new TZE-02 and everything appears to work as it should. So, either was the second hand TZE-01 faulty, or it wasn't updated to the latest firmware (even though the seller said it worked with his Z6 on FW 3.40 which is the same as I have).

Further update regarding Sigma 105mm DG DN Macro Art w/ TZE-02 on Nikon Z7:
While it does acquire focus and otherwise works well, the focus is often "mini-hunting"; going back and forth a bit, before settling on the right spot. Sometimes it will unfortunately completely miss focus and go to MFD, and get stuck there until I turn the manual focus ring. For typical macro-work, it may not be a serious problem, but for shooting moving subjects, it will be much less than ideal.
Since others have been happy with the AF performance with their E mount lenses, I expect it to be at least partly because it's a macro lens.

I have tested distortion behavior with my Sigma 105mm DG DN Macro Art (E mount) lens on my Nikon Z7. It shows a quite marked pincushion distortion, which apparently is caused by an in-camera lens profile that exaggerates the distortion a lot. I had to dial in -9 in the distortion panel in Adobe Camera Raw in order to get perfectly straight lines. This means there are two distortion corrections counteracting each other. As a result, those two distortion corrections add a bit of "digital zoom" and cropping. This may compromise ultimate resolution, I'm afraid.
After converting the NEF file to DNG with DxO PhotoLab (PureRAW will most likely do it too), making sure there is no lens profile used in the process, I got a DNG file with only weak pincushion distortion. I only needed to dial in -2 in distortion correction in ACR, and there was noticeably less "digital zoom" (cropping).

Do you know if correct aperture readings of Zeiss Loxia & Voigtlander E-mount lenses can be shown on the cameras using aperture ring?
Thanks to let me know if something was fixed with last firmware update

I don't know about Zeiss, but my Z6 shows the correct fstop both in camera and recorded in the EXIF for my Voigtlander E-mount lenses. I have a the 02 version.

To my understanding, with Voigtlander E-mount lenses you have to manually set the aperture in camera to the same value the lens is set.
While the lens has contacts to pass the data, the lens aperture setting is not transmitted via the TZE-adapter (I have the 01 version).
With Sony bodies, changing lens aperture changes also the aperture value in camera.

I just checked with my Z6 with Voigtlander E-mount 40 1.2 with the TZE-02 version. Manually changing the aperture on the lens automatically changes the f-stop value in the camera in all PASM modes. Maybe the 01 version is different . . .

Hmm... doesn't work like that with my 21mm/1.4 Nokton. Afaik TZE-01 and 02 has the same functionality, but the chip is different.

Interesting. The question is whether it is the Nokton vs Voigtlander or 01 vs 02? I'm running V3.4 on the Z6. My TZE is straight from the dealer - not sure what firmware it is running.
I think this is a good excuse for me to come to Finland and sort this out . . .

Picked up one of these. Mounting seems very solid (I put it on the lens first, then mounted to body, just to be safer lest it got stuck to the body!) But I'm not getting any aperture or SS controls. The camera is locked in MF. I'm using it with the Sigma 50 ART (in Sony mount). I wonder if that's an issue (because it has the AF/MF toggle).
