I believe Fred still has my 35/2 Loxia. It performed at a level above the previous copy I had - night and day.

With everyone obsessing over foliage "bokeh", I thought that maybe I could add some "bouquet"

Your Loxia has sharp corners even wide open! I've encountered high variance with this lens and lost count how many I rented from LR.
If it wasn't for the pesky wavy field curvature it would do great across the field even at wide apertures.

David, The Loxia 35 of Fred's comparison may be a somehow "exceptionally good" copy. One year ago, Fred said that he had tried 6 copies of the Loxia 35 2.0 before choosing one, also stating: "Most of the Lox 35 copies I've tested didn't perform great at the very corners and needed f/9-10 to be optimum". I guess he has tried much fewer copies of the Sony 35 1.8 (perhaps one or two). Therefore, supposing that "any" Sony 35 1.8 is less sharp in the corners than "any" Loxia 35 2.0 maybe a little bit risky.

Fred’s crops match my Lox 35 whose corners become optimal at f6.3 or a touch earlier.
And is sharp across the field wide open, though a little SA hazy at closer distances.

But interesting to know about the variability...

Moar bokeh I never suspected I would be using 35mm FL for close ups, but the CF ability is growing on me.... f/1.8:

Just one more... I liked the bokeh at the top of the frame, looks like flames

I like it as well.
I think you would love the Zeiss 50/1.4 ZE or previous Contax 50/1.4 (both wide open) for flower shots up close. Very painterly.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, has nice bokeh balls and sharpness shots vs other 35mm lenses including the Sigma 1.2:

I’m in a similar boat as you but instead considering selling my Sony 50/1.4 for the voigt simply due to size reasons and to free up a little $$$. Definitely enjoying the versatility of the 35mm so far.

You are probably right! - it has never let me down but size limits its use.

This 35 has helped me build my kit. I wanted to build it around a 35. Now i have
35, 55, Samyang 85/1.4
My CV 50 is coming.
I don’t need anything else really.

Oh wow the macro repro is 1:4 just like the Sigma 45 C. Seems like a solid all arounder.

Minimum focusing distance is 0.22 m(0.73 ft) achieving a magnification of 0.24. Similar to the Sigma 45mm/2.8. Batis 40mm can achieve a little bit more at x0.3.

It's becoming one of my favorite features of this lens

Quick question if you shake the lens slightly does it feel like the element groups are moving. Mine has a rattle and roll. Just tested it

Yes, it's normal just like with the FE 135/1.8 GM.

Thanks bud. Im going over images now. Im finding some vignetting that's heavier than the CV 40, CA that goes to about F4 but very sharp even on Big Bronco and infinity F4 is amazingly good. It also beats the CV on center at 1.8. Less distortion than the CV 40 as well. Color looks really good . No comment yet on Bokeh. Build quality Meh Not impressive but Manual focus is not bad.
