Sony today announced the latest addition to its E-mount full-frame lens line-up with the introduction of a FE 35mm F1.8 large-aperture wide-angle prime lens, model SEL35F18F.
The compact dimensions and light weight of this full-frame, large-aperture prime lens provide mobility and convenience for shooting a wide range of subjects from everyday snapshots, food photography, landscapes, night scenes and more. The new lens provides outstanding corner-to-corner image quality from a maximum F1.8 aperture and its quiet autofocus and tenacious tracking performance make it a great choice for both stills and movie shooting.
We have confirmed that the "SEL35F18F" model number has been added to Sony's latest product list. If not a mistake, it should be the lens to be announced next. #rumor
Sony has been very reasonable with their pricing lately, so I don't expect they will price their higher than the Nikkor S 35. Heck something like the Canon RF 35 would be my guess.
Is this going to be an FE lens like the 85 1.8? That would be so cool. Sigma releasing a high end 35 and Sony releasing a smaller, more affordable 35 would satisfy everyone.

That would be very smart. A bit pricier than the new Samyang/Rokinon 45, but close to the Canon RF, which is priced competitively and fills a clear niche that Sony currently lacks.

Really hope so. FE 35/1.8 and 85/1.8 would be my go to travel combo, with the CV21/3.5 for wide.
The price of the 35 2.8 is probably going to drop. Can’t see the 2.8 being $800 retail and $1600 for the 1.4, the 1.8 doubtfully sits between those. But I also can’t imagine it performing better than either of these lenses.
But I’m excited to see this being a reality finally! I personally caved to an RX1, but if I didn’t have one I would have this at the top of my list.

I sure hope it's more like the 85 f/1.8 than the 50 f/1.8.
