testing out the new 70-180. So far I am getting great results at short to mid distances. It does need a bit more work in post compared to my S lenses. But the size and price makes it a great lens.

Indeed! I am not sure if the lens is a little soft or it's due to the depth of field getting super narrow when close focusing but it gives a nice glow to the image.

It's probably not soft, my 70-180 does the same thing near minimum focus distance wide open at 70mm. It's crazy how close you can get with this lens at 70mm.

Nice! You had a noticeably better view than I did. I also think I missed the best of last night because I heard about it late and didn't think I'd be able to see anything given my close proximity to a major city. Here's one more from last night. Nothing special, but still cool given what this part of sky normally looks like at night.
