So far absolutely zero desire for the 50/1.8 S here. It's clearly superb, and Nikon's best 50mm by far before the 50/1.2 S was released, but the rendering leaves me cold. It's interesting, because I'm loving the rendering from the 35S, and both the 20 and 85 render beautifully, but the 50 which is arguably the best of the 1.8's technically just doesn't do much for me at all. I'll keep the cheap, flawed and yet interesting 50/1.8G instead.
Disappeared for a bit again. Regular stuff - everything is blooming, any non essential travel outside of our 'health region' is banned for a month. Sold my last F mount lens (28 1.4E) - it's 100% Z mount now.

Why did you sell the 28mm 1.4e ?
Did you not use it often enough anymore ?
For me this is such a great lens with a wonderful signature - and there is nothing like it in the Z mount !

I'm not a lens collector - if I'm not using something for a long time it gets sold. I bought it used here on FM, it had a good run and got re-homed. I don't pixel peep either - 24-70 2.8S is just good enough for my use cases (and while it's not as fast - I have 50/85 when I need a faster aperture). Not having to bother with adapters is an additional bonus.
And don't get me wrong - 28 1.4E is amazing. One of the reasons it was the last one to go.
A good time to go to the zoo is when it is a wet day, which keeps the crowds away, there are no harsh shadows and the animals can be a little more active, depending on their species of course. The drawback is lower light and higher ISOs, but the modern cams are pretty good at the high ISOs.
Goddfellow's, or Red Tree Kangaroo. This is the first baby Tree Kangaroo born at Taronga in 20 years so, I was quite happy to get her. Would have only recently come out of the pouch.

Amazing sharpness and rich colors in all shots.
I see you shot tiger at f7.1 and f8 with 2xTC, but still, they shouldn't be that sharp...lol.
If new incoming 100-400mm gets any close to 70-200mm, it's gonna an amazing tele zoom.
P.S. I just looked at it again, you actually shot it through 1" glass...wow.

Thank you very much for your kind comments.
I am thinking the 100-400 will be amazing if the 70-200 f2.8S + 2x TC can be this good! I would suggest it would have to be better and especially wide open which is where we want it to be great. The only drawback with the 70-200 + 2x TC is that it is good wide open but better stopped down, whereas the 200-500 an 500 PF are both excellent wide open.
