My wife and I were treated to a spectacular light show on our evening sunset walk on Waikanae Beach a few nights ago.... captured with the Nikon Z6 and 24-70S kit zoom.
The dense cloud cover broke on Thursday for the first time in weeks. So of course, I took a drive to check on the glacier.
There were some interesting ice patterns around the edge of the lake, but numbnuts me flubbed the focus stacking (official excuse: I'm still getting used to the Z bodies; reality: I had a brain fart), so this is the best I came home with.

Chris,
What an amazing place you are living. Beautiful shots.

Thank you for your kind comment, Luka.
As a wannabe landscape photographer, I feel incredibly lucky to live where I do. I sometimes joke that a blind man could take a Nat Geo cover shot here. The weather doesn't always co-operate, but the scenery can rarely be used as an excuse.
I took a short hike Thursday evening with my son, and we slung a hammock between a couple of trees at this overlook and waited for the stars to come out.
The small peninsula to center left is home to the Shrine of St. Therese. I'm not a religious person, but it certainly is a gorgeous location and the grounds and gardens are a pleasant spot to while away a couple of hours on a weekend.

Great shots and great to see you back, Luke. I was wondering what happened to you.
Cheers, Lance. Slammed with my day job (not many days without overtime). We had a couple weeks of average weather without much sunshine (pineapple express) - 210mm of rain in December, 165mm in January so far. Plus the whole covid thing getting tiring - it's been almost a year now.

Hang in there. Looking forward to more of your great photos.
