Trying to get a handle on the updates in the Z6II, so I forced myself to use Auto-Area AF + Tracking about 90% of the time yesterday. I only had a couple hours to play, so I'm still pretty green with it but so far, so good.
Focus does "seem" to be a bit crisper and "stickier" than it was on the Z6, but the improvement in the tracing retention is the most obvious improvement to me - at least based on a limited 1st session.
May as well make it a little more challenging, so I used a 1.4xTC the whole time and shot out the window of my vehicle.

Are you shooting jpg or raw? If you are shooting raw, how are you processing them? I downloaded Capture NX for Nikon and can't output my raw files...
BTW... very nicely done. I have found that the initial AF acquisition of the Z6II is definitely quicker than the Z6... now if only I could look at my pictures and actually process them!

Thanks Bruce.
Thanks to a tip from Eric in the Z6II/Z7II announcement thread, I downloaded Capture NX-D and am using it to convert (Export - CMD+E) the NEF's to TIF's and then processing them as close to normal as possible.
As a stills camera absolutely. Never got into video so don’t miss anything there. If I’m nit picking I think I like editing the Z6 a bit better but the Z5 is close (related, I never liked Z7 files, tried the camera 3 times.) I slightly miss the top LCD but much prefer working with SD cards. All in all, it’s a great camera and price /value I don’t think anything touches it (and I’ve owned A7III/A7RIII, S5, Z6&7 and used the R6 as a rental for a couple weeks.) Definitely recommended for stills.

Nice images Eric. :-)
Thank You. I like the z6II af so far. It seems more responsive and stickier and a little bit faster.I am waiting on the battery grip. I put a l bracket on my z6II to help it balance better on my monogimball and gimball head.
