Am I missing something for not going for the GM 35mm f/1.4? This image was taken using the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN. Yes, I know the Sigma is heavier and bulkier but even at wide open, I am not complaining about the performance of this lens. But the GM 50mm looks enticing though…

That’s true… To be honest, I am perfectly fine using the opposite of this big and heavy lens, the Sony FE 35mm f/2.8, which is virtually pocketable, for landscape since it will be stopped down anyway.

Joshua,
Obviously you are not missing anything portrait wise with the Sigma. Your work proves that.
That being said, I think the 35mm f/1.4 GM may be the finest lens in my bag. Quickly becoming my go to lens for many uses. Except for some focus breathing (don't shoot much video anyway), it is hard to find any fault with the lens.
Like you, this one has me lusting after the 50mm f/1.2 GM......
The 35 seems to add just a bit of extra life to images somehow.

Is there anything better than photos of people? It's the strong suit of stills photography, being able to stop the world for a moment in time, to remember and recall for years.

You put the 50GM to good use - wonderful image, Eric!

A friend of mine (thank you, Dave @ftllens) loaned me his 50mm f/1.2 lens to try out yesterday. The actual shooting aperture is f/1.2 and not f/1.3; it was more a quirk of the adapter.
