Finally some portraits with some fully vaccinated folks! Woohoo! Both shot very simply and on the fly with natural light and a Sigma 50 Art + Black Pro Mist 1/2.

So happy to see you back in action! I like that mist effect. And the Marilyn vibes on the second.
Thank you so much my friend! It was great to get back out there! I am tragically knee deep in crunch time cutting yet another new animated flick just as things are majorly easing up in LA…great timing…busting some crazy hours at the moment…but I am hoping to get my sea legs back as soon as I reasonably can! My buddy and I finally got to hang out and shoot together after a year and it was so much fun! We even had a beer afterwards!
The Sigma 50 + BPM 1/2 is totally my go-to right now! We shot with 4 models at this location last weekend and I only used the 85 once! Everything else was 50 or 35.

Just popping in with a couple from a recent shoot for a veterinary office - we did a magazine cover, headshots and "action" shots from around the clinic without a lot of room to work and dicey lighting conditions (so I carried my own light!) Always a pleasant surprise when one of the subjects ends up looking like a model!
Both shot on A7RIV with 24-70GM (2.8 @ 70mm - kind of soft but works for these and I needed the wide zoom in the offices)

Sigma 50 Art + BPM 1/2 (the usual these days). Shade and soft light provided by the shadow of my octabox that I turned off for this shot because I didn't have a low enough stand. Whatever works though, right?

I met Shay a few days ago in Vegas while she was photographing her dad. I asked politely whether I could take her pictures instead and she agreed. So, I had an impromptu session of several minutes with her in front of the Venetian. I only had my Zeiss Batis 40mm with me then and I didn't have no choice but using only that lens. Here is one of the resulting images...

Messing with the 20/1.8, very sharp little lens! Wouldn't use this every day for portraits due to distortion, but definitely nice rendering and might make for some interesting environmental shots.

That's a great shot. I've found that for a lot of family photos, something like the 24gm and the 20g really work great and can be flattering if used correctly.

Thanks! I think the 24GM would make more sense for things like this, but the 20 will work in a pinch, and can double for wider astro duties as well.
