Give it a shot! It renders beautifully imo. It is a fantastic lens with sub-par AF but a total go to for me for portraits.

I did! I cannot get this lens off my body lately, it's so good. I've been debating the 35mm Samyang 1.4 because of how great this lens renders.
Also...Sigma 105mm *droool*, always been on my WANT list.

And still frustrated with my Samyang 85. I love it, but the AF in AF-C is very inconsistent and tends to front focus. This picture, even at 2.8, it's pretty obvious that the focus is in the nose instead of the eye. 50% of the pictures are slightly front focused. It seems that using the separate eye-af button is a bit better, and definitely AF-S works better, but... (btw the previous one is as well a bit front focused).
Is this the case when you are using AF-C but not using eye AF? My Samyang 35 can be iffy with eye AF at times but it is much more accurate with small flexible spot on the latest firmware. I am torn about trading my FE 85 for the Samyang 85. The rendering of the Sammy is clearly nicer but at least my FE copy is really sharp and I like being able to take bursts of people walking and get pretty reliably sharp shots.

I went to the service center a few days ago.
My lens has been sent for “repair” and I’ve borrowed another copy from them that is focusing perfect ALL THE TIME. Mine was front focusing always in the right side (or top side in vertical), that’s why my focus issues, maybe the lens was a bit tilted and the focus system was not taking that into account, I don’t know. The copy I have now is awesome.

I’m very interested to see if they can fix the problem. It seems there are more than a few people that have this lens not working 100% correctly, but when it works it is so great.
With your “awesome” lens loaner, how is AF working in low light or right at MFD? These are the areas where mine seem to have the most problems. But it’s really not so bad for me, just curious. If they make it perfect then might as we send it in. And you have to it to ship both ways yes?

Just to clarify, is this the 85 or 35 Samyang you’re referring to here?

I wanted to try something other than the soft light I typically use so I went as hard as I could think of with a magnum reflector on my Xplor 400 Pro. I used a flat to cast a hard shadow on the wall as well as the model. Not sure where in my workflow the exif is getting stripped, but these are both with the A7III & 55/1.8.
