Superb shots Lance!! The 24-70/2.8S is truly an amazing lens and as mentioned like a bag full of primes
Thanks! Yeah - every single Z mount lens is really good but this 24-70 and the 50 are really really superb. I am starting to wonder if I should sell my 70-200 2.8E in anticipation of what's coming next.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments, Charles. Much appreciated!
You are welcome Lance Your first shot is often used by many photographers for comparing images and I remember we were checking a number of Fuji RAW files and how it compared with different raw developing packages to maximize the detail. I can say the detail is just superb with the Z7 and 24-70/2.8S is as good as it gets

Nooo ! The 70-200/2.8E is another all time gem. If they do surpass the design of the 70-200E it would have to be really special.

Thanks again, Charles. There is certainly detail aplenty, any trees that is smeared is the just high wind that was blowing on that day!

I almost tempted to sell my 70-200/2.8E . At the very least, it should be quite a bit lighter without VR.
However, for what I use 70-200/2.8 for, I am not 100% sure if Z7 AF will suffice (probably is) but
I want to play it safe and keep 70-200/2.8E FL for use with my D850 just in case.
In that case, I am not sure if I want to get 70-200/2.8 S or not as it does not make much sense to have 2 at this
focal lenght. Now if 70-200/2.8S is significantly lighter and better (easier said than done) then may be.....
Any F mount lens I own that is on the Nikon Z roadmap, I've sold them. Lol
I'm down to 200mm f2.0, 105mm Macro, and 600E.
Anyone notice the tight fit of the Z mount lens to the camera body? F mount is wobbly on most lenses. I don't know if that's because of the bigger lens that require some moving room or if it's just the mount tolerance.
My 50mm f1.8s is really tight fit.

You can say that again. I don't know how they're going to make it better than the 70-200 f2.8E FL VR. If it is better, WOW!
Less expensive would be better. Somehow I don't think that's part of Nikon's S "roadmap".

Looks like a comfy harness. Can I ask what kind?
Ruffwear Front Range. We already have Web Master with a handle on top and it's been a very good product for a year now. But Front Range has a front attachment point to address Bruce's pulling.

"Nikon got this just about right. The 24-70mm f/2.8 S is an impressive lens, and speaks to what they can do with the new, less restrictive lens mount. "

Really a stunning and perfectly timed image! (your patience must have suffered;-)
Thanks ( I hope you were referring to my picture )
Much simpler than you thought. Just set a camera for 25s exposure and set intervalometer to every 25s, point the camera, focus and pray that lightning would cooperate and stike at the appropriate area and half an hour later, I am done
Does not hurt that it was taken from my bedroom window while I was watching TV on my bed

Curious - have you tried one of those optical triggers that auto actuates the shutter when lightning strikes? Great shot!

Yes, I actually do have a Miop unit that can be set to triggered by lightening. It works very well but I have not used it in awhile.
I think by the time I find the Miop in my cluttered drawer, find fresh batteries and the right cable for Nikon, the thunderstorm would be over
I find using intervalometer is just as easy for this application.
