No, he only knows about online shops on TaoBao where it is a pain to order when you are from the western world...
Today I received a Leica version from a reader/FMer (thanks again!), but unfortunately the centering quality
was not good enough for me to be comfortable with publishing the results of that comparison.
Ah, damn. So he doesn't.
I found a link on AliExpress that was pretty clear. But I hate buying on Ali Express..
Nehemiah's Amazon link looks like its probably legit...
I'm pretty sure they are fine, I've heard good things.
BUT they only take PayMe or bank transfer.
PayMe is an HSBC thing only available in Hong Kong.
International Bank transfer is fairly easy from here in Australia, but the last time I spent any time working in the States international bank transfer was surprisingly painful.
Such a bummer this thing is fun. I致e started focusing at F2 as it just feels it has more contrast for focusing. 1.4 is not bad but it痴 tougher on the eyes. I知 also not seeing any real diffrence in bokeh at F2 that copper metal head earlier was at F2 plenty of nice bokeh on that one. Those pottery pots are F2 as well
so i did get the lens yesterday (from amazon with email link from 7artisans) and it didnt say "fe plus" on the bottom of the lens but on the box, it has an "E" sticker on it. Not sure if the regular ones had that too? It did come with an extra focusing thing outside of the box but not sure what that means. Only took a few shots around the house but seems pretty sharp wide open. I'm not much of a lens tester as you guys sooo not sure what I can provide as far as that goes lol .. but if you want to give me some pointers on what to do, i can try taking the lens down to a park or something to test
Bastian the one comment I have actually two. One is it sounds very similar to this version in the corners. Without the PCX I would say it is very good at F8 but still improves at F11 now with the PCX we see the big improvement. If I put your thoughts together with mine I知 thinking the Sony FE plus sounds like at least a half a stop improvement maybe slightly more. Obviously hard to say without side by side. Now with the PCX it痴 really nice at F5.6 in the corners. You should try the PCX on it just to see if it improves on your version. It should
The only other comment is the green cast you spotted. That I知 just not seeing but I値l look back at all my Raws in C1 and see if I pick it up.
But pretty much everything else sounds the same between our tests. Nice job and thanks for posting it.
I値l be taking mine on a road trip end of month in the snow filled area maybe I値l pick up on that green cast
I知 also using a Hawks but I do have another adapter that works with the PCX with infinity , so I put my Hawks on my Leica 75. But all my testing in this thread was with the Hawks

Unfortunately no comparison to the M version but I threw in the VM 35 1.7 + 5m PCX instead.
Great test, Bastian. I especially appreciate the extended bokeh section; this is my favorite focal length for environmental portraiture, too. I'm not yet sure that this would replace my beloved Zeiss 28/2, but the only way to be sure is to give it a shot, and when my summer travels are over that's probably what I'll do.
It seems there's something in this lens for everyone. Acceptable wide-open sharpness, good sharpness stopped down, good bokeh, good coma performance. Rather like the recent Voigtlander Noktons, it's an excellent compromise between speed, size and weight, and performance. I wish we had lenses made with that design philosophy at every focal length.

I couldn't agree more with all of this.

Thanks Bastian for a great review, I'm happy to see also subjective stuff like boke in reviews. The Flickr album was very interesting to watch. Also made me wanting to go to Isle of Skye again.
Seems that 2019 will be "year of 28mm" for me, I'm getting Sigma Art 28mm FE as soon as I can get one - I will get also this lens, when I can buy one from amazon.de or ebay.de in FE-version (or other place as long as it's inside EU). Well, I don't mind I love 28mm FOV and have been missing good lens for a long time on this focal length. Really weird as 2018 was "year of 50mm" for me; I found two great 50mm lenses (Sigma Art 50 & Alpha-mount Planar 50) and spent a lot of time figuring out their character and which one I prefer on which kind of scenarios.

I wonder if the R3 further improved corner colour cast from the improvements in r2? Bastian, I think, is using the r2. I think you, Guy, are using the R3?
I contacted 7artisans via Facebook asking where I can get the FEplus version.
The response is
"Hi Kai,
You can get it on our Amazon or eBay. https://www.amazon.com/7artisans
or https://www.ebay.com/str/7artisans
You just need to contact the seller and mention that you need a FE PLUS version."

Going to order it via ebay.
I think they would be selling more if they made it more obvious which version you are getting and there wasn't a need to contact the seller before.

Absolutely. So convoluted... However, the funny thing is that even their own website also does not mention anything about FEplus for Sony. They'll have to redo all their marketing materials just to add the Sony option. Sometimes engineers are not that flexible lol

Their english homepage is a complete mess imho.
