if you notice the EF version, that is priced 699, and already there's a 110 discount...... hope by christmas, that will carry over to this version. I've got the FE 85, so I can wait a bit, not in a big rush, but that extra speed would be nice.
To be honest I’d bet you’ll see a discount before Xmas. On the other hand, though I rarely buy new I find an 85 useful, and dont have a good AF option currently so it’s utility may outpace whatever discount may come. We shall see.

Where the f1.4 really comes in handy is in full body portraits. Plus it helps with the AF.
It makes a noticeable difference in situations where your subject is far away and there's not much background separation present. For closer shots, it's harder to tell.
I think it will be a great 85mm for portraits. Samyang usually gets rendering right and I'm reading it's sharp wide-open even towards the edges. Let's just hope they didn't over-correct it.
The main question mark is AF-C speed and accuracy. The above reviewer says it's "fast and accurate".
That is a very praise-worthy review, albeit one that is quite thin on handling and diverse shooting scenarios. Its description of flair and bokeh, though, with very short remarks on fast AF, sound exciting to me. I'll let this sink in and might put a pre-order in next week.

I get nervous when I read fast and accurate. My radar goes up are we talking turtles here or cheetah fast.
I’m going to wait for more reviews but if this lens shines it’s going to be hard to resist. Really I want to see AF reviews. In low light. The ephotozine review gives us a throwaway comment on AF.
Interesting it’s being released April 5th. Hmmm my radar is up now. I need something to keep me busy until my 135 comes in.
For me I’m not replacing the GM 85 but my Sony 85 1.8. My primary would be the 135 but I do need a fast 85 so if this has the speed and I could pick up a little more look than it might be worth a try. And I just bought the Sony new no less. I do lose the AF/MF switch and the focus hold button which would not make me happy
