Feeding time; looking at a parent Great Egret feeding one of its nestlings while 1 of its siblings is running its bill through the parents neck feathers and the third is in the nest behind the parent.

my first "proper" (i.e. close enough for feather details) kingfisher. taken with the a6400 and 100-400GM at 400mm. I was scouting this location a couple of times and then it took a hide (the cheap wallimex pop-up hide) and some patience (about 1.5 h) to get it. I am very spoiled by living less than 5 minutes from two kingfisher districts, with the latter now in Fall having 3-4 birds at least, if not more. Love those birds. My lesson learned is that I do not need more reach, I just need to get closer
Snowy Egret that has eyes bigger than his throat. Spent forever trying to get this fish down, but just wouldn't go. Meanwhile, one of his competitors jumped at it every time the fish managed to wiggle out of his throat.
Note the long feathers starting to grow for the mating season. The yellow area between the bill and his eye is starting to darken and will eventually turn red to help attract females.

That cheap wallimex hide and my scouting/patience really paid off The kingfisher landed on the stick I prepared for him 3-4 m away from the hide. All images with A6400 and 100-400 GM at 400mm.
