Considering I won't give Adobe money every month for their subscription program and I have LR6 as the last non-subscription release which will not include the Z6/Z7, well this may push me over to Capture One finally, but I've gotten my workflow down after years of LR (starting with LR1 way back when) so it would be hard to switch, but if I end up getting the Z6 I may have to because what good will LR6 do me if it doesn't support Z6 NEF's and I don't want to have to convert all my NEF's to DNG's...

Monthly subscription for LR - $10/month, althways updated.
Cheapest C1 package - $300, with a vague promise of saving for a new version. So, it’s 3 years worth of LR subscription (including the interest) and after that, if not earlier, to pay for a new version. How is it better?
I have a workspace i can send you that makes it feel like lightroom. Lightroom is built on super slow archaic architecture. Doesnt use multi-threading and is 10 times slower at churning raws on my machine (Ryzen 1950X 16core, with 128GB ram, 1TB 970 Pro work drive). yes 10 times... 350 d850 raws on export in LR took 27minutes, while c1 literally took 2min 40 sec. Lightroom gets bloated and requires you to save everything to their DAM. Capture 1 is able to use hardware acceleration as well as multithreading And gives you the option to create "Sessions" for every shoot you have, encompassing all the edits and files in one mobile package, incase you need to move the files to another location, you wont lose any of your changes.
Capture 1 also separates Color Value from Exposure value as its a complete RAW editor. Have you ever noticed that when you change color or WB in LR, sometimes the brightness/exposure of the image changes? Well thats because LR only has the processing power to do both at the same time, whereas C1 has them completely independent from each other. Also c1 has layers and has the option of adding "Presets/Styles" to individual layers and then changing the opacity of them so that you can feather or mask the style. Once you use the color editor in Capture One in a terrible lighting situation, youll never go back to LR, i guarantee it. c1 may cost more upfront, but you own the program, and they are very fast with updates, and generally do not make a new version more than once every 3 years. LR may be cheaper, but if you ever want to end your subscription, you wont be able to use their software. Overall C1 is a much more powerful RAW editor, you get what you pay for. And also dont expect Adobe to keep LR classic around, they have already said they want to use Lightroom CC moving forward, hence why they separated the program. id venture to guess LR Classic will be gone in the next 2-3 years. Also this is my own opinion, after using Lightroom since it first came out, and up until a year ago switching to Capture 1. I still am a subscription holder to Adobe CC, and use Photoshop and After effects and Premiere, but i spent the extra money because i feel my RAW conversions are superior in C1 and the time saving with editing. i learned from a c1 ambassador, so if anyone ver needs help in learning it, i can answer any questions you may have, also, theres always a 10% code floating around, so you never have to pay full price lol
