This series was captured last summer at our favorite burrowing owl site locally but I got sidetracked, went on an extended trip and didn't have the opportunity to post until now. It took place in front of their burrow, this burrowing owl parent (I couldn't tell whether it is a male or female) was being groomed/ caressed by one of the "kids". Out came the sibling that immediately jumped in between, trying to get the attention from the parent. Not to be outdone, the first kid didn't relent, of course. A few seconds later, the parent had enough of the two and jumped behind the bush to the right and disappeared from my view, ending the show.
These birds are very expressive and I love just watching them. Plus, frankly, I could clearly see this behavior among our kids, too
Please feel free to C&C. Thank you for dropping by,
Joshua

Very cute! Was I there ... napping maybe?
Bobby, thank you! Yes, you were there. It was fairly early in the season in July. Either you were napping or talking about having breakfast.... again. Just kidding .
