Rented this lens, really liking it. A selection of some shots taken at F1.4, edited to taste. I know most people will use this as a landscape lens but I really like it for wide angle bokeh.
Rented the lens while I attended a friend's wedding. Much better rendering than the 28/2 I've rented in the past. Probably technically better than the 35/1.4 ZA too, but I still like portraits from a 35 over 24. Did really enjoy the FL for hiking though. Astro shots were wild at 1.4. examples might not be the best below, but overall I had a great time with the lens.
Deciding between the 24 as a replacement for the Loxia 21 or a replacement for the CV 40 as a walk around lens (or both?) is real.

But seriously, it's been a great run of incredible photos. Probably doesn't hurt that there are many skilled people are using this (apparently excellent) lens, but the gear isn't nothing. As a longtime user of the comparable Canon unit, I know the value of such lenses, and if I were to switch to Sony E or Nikon Z*, this lens would be high on my buying list. The Canon 24/1.4 is also horrible for astro; the Sony apparently is not.
* With the apparent success of the electronic E->Z adapter, it appears that the Nikon users are able to make good use of the lenses available across the frontier at the E mount. Which sounds incredibly fun.
Do you have Portuguese family roots from your Brazilian heritage? Are you connecting with any relatives while there?
Thank you Jim!
I have no connection to Portugal but it was nice they speak my language while traveling across the country. Very friendly folks, especially in the north.
Grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil but don't have Brazilian roots either. My entire family (grandparents and in-laws) are from Italy. (Migrated to Brazil in 1918)
