I should have one of these coming in by next week. I've seen a few pictures with some serious CA, but I expected that shooting wide open. At what point does it seem to go away?

Fantastic pictures in this thread by the way!
There is definitely CA wide open. (About same level as RX1RII when I compared them side-by-side) ...however there is no onion ring pattern in bokeh balls which is not the case with many lenses with asphericals.
Perhaps only the Otus 28/1.4 would provide better axial CA correction but that would cost you.
Nothing artistic here! Just a snap at minimum focus distance with the 24GM. This lens continues to impress me in many ways. This shot was taken in crop mode at 18mp. It's the entire image. The bokeh of this lens is fantastic.

Have you used af or manual focus? On fstops higher than f4 im getting a lot of focus pulsing even in bright light conditions.
I usually shoot that lens in manual focus, but I have used it in AF with no issues, actually, recently I did a shoot in a dimly lit water preserve jungle and I shot with the 24 GM, 55 Zeiss and the 135 GM, the 135 was the only one that struggled many times to acquire AF, no issues with the other two.
But when you used afc or afs ? Im having pulsing problem when afc.

Portrait of my mother shot at the restaurant this weekend, natural light @ F1.4 1/2500sec 100ISO, cropped a tad from R3 RAW ... Resulting file size is 5628 x 4221 and I see no ugly wide-angle-distortion in her face!
Do you have Portuguese family roots from your Brazilian heritage? Are you connecting with any relatives while there?

Thank you Jim!
I have no connection to Portugal but it was nice they speak my language while traveling across the country. Very friendly folks, especially in the north.
Grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil but don't have Brazilian roots either. My entire family (grandparents and in-laws) are from Italy. (Migrated to Brazil in 1918)
Very nice series of images from Portugal, and a lovely family. I can't wait to see what my copy can do on the new A7R4 ...

This is my favorite travel lens. Here is a few from Fatima, Portugal
Fred, what is travel kit lens now a days. Is it just the 24GM?
I used to not like 24mm FL as it wasn't wide enough or long enough but now I'm getting used to it and learning to crop (thank god for 42MP) when needed. I can see myself using this as my only travel lens.
Might pair it with my collapsible 50mm Summicron for extra reach.
