No, because raws from dpreview's two Z7 copies demonstrate the banding even when processed with Nikon's Capture NX-D, whereas Jim's Z7 doesn't show the banding in either ACR or Capture NX-D.

I suspect this maybe where FW updates RAW pre processing may reduce this higher +EV levels so it is not an issue
It's a pretty big mystery at this point. Both have the same firmware. I've done a deep comparison of the EXIF between dpreview's samples and Jim's samples and for each difference I've found I was able to eliminate it as material to the banding by also checking banding samples from Imaging Resource.
Can I ask a favor of Z7 owners to help in this investigation? Can you take a photo at ISO 64 that's 6EV underexposed and PM me the raw file? An indoor scene of a room would work best, including one where there are some areas of deep blacks and uniform OOF backgrounds. Three raws would be great of the same scene - 14-bit uncompressed, 14-bit lossless compressed, and 14-bit compressed (lossy). Thanks!
The lens testing done by Matt Granger in the video is far from scientific, more observational. However, it matches what I saw when I was testing the Z7 with adapted lenses. If you are not an action, or low light shooter it will not be much of an issue to most I think.
I am very taken with the Z7 + FTZ + 70-300 AF-P - very portable and very capable.
I'm still getting used to the quirks of the Z7's AF and I think there is little doubt the 850 will always be the better tool for action, BIF etc.
Some of the AF behaviour on the ZF seems a bit counter-intuitive if you are used to the D80, D500 etc but I think it is is better than first impression tend to suggest.
This is a very good over view. The issue regarding Tamrons' is known and just confirmed by Matt. For the most part for lenses I need to be good like the 28E, 58G, 50/1.8G, 85/1.8G, 105E and 70-200E with 1.7x and 2.0x are very good to excellent.
The D850 has excellent dynamic AF and though the Z7 is less dynamic it is more accurate. Each system has its limitations and strengths. Work with it
If I was to opt for the 24-70/2.8G I would use the 24-70/4S instead on the Z7.
Just came back from a trip with my Z7. Took about 3000 shots so far with no significant problem. One only glitch was that some dirt got stuck on the EVF sensor and for awhile,
when I took my eye of EVF, LCD monitor remained dark which was really annoying (I was using mostly automatic switch mode).
Once I cleaned EVF sensor then everything was ok.

Very nice Suteetat The 58/1.2 Noct is definitely on my list The EVF/LCD sensor seems to pose a problem with many ML's as the Sony A7 series have this issue. Just keep a small cleaner with you.
Very promising initial test results with SHOTEN LM-NZ adapter for Leica M mount lenses It appears the edge smearing has been reduced or eliminated. Early days still
