Those are very impressive results for the S lens. High quality glass for sure. Thanks for posting Lance.
No problems, Steve. It really is quite an amazing lens. I am a big fan of the 24-70 f2.8G and now the 24-70 f2.8E VR, both fabulous lenses, but this silly little 24-70 f4s is even better! Not only in sharpness, but overall IQ is at *least* as good as the 24-70 f2.8E VR, which I think has such beautiful rendering. I hate this term but it does seem to fit, it even has "pop" when used with the right lighting and subject matter. I think this has something to do with the across the frame sharpness that is lacking in all other versions/manufacturers of 24-70 lenses.

Thank you very much, Charles. Much appreciated.
Yes, I just wonder about T&C as well, there is some useful info interspersed with some quite dubious info which, as I said, seems to be aimed at click baiting.
As for cockatoos, the secret is, don't feed them! As soon as you stop feeding them, they them take it out on your home and they can get quite aggressive as well. On the flip side, they are such characterful birds and really funny to watch but as you say, can be VERY noisy!
The cockatoos are awesome pets and I have raised a few of them. Very demanding and intelligent. I have also raised about 5 galahs injured in the wild and they become very affectionate living on acreage then.

Would camera wake up from sleep mode if you just unlock that lens?
Beautiful!!
Looking at this after watching the T. Northrup video certainly makes it hard to watch or read anything he post going forward. I certainly don't have an agenda when saying that, except that these pictures and every other source seems to be in direct contrast with him to the point that it questions his value as a source for anything.
Of course for years I have observed the absolute ability of Lance to make amazing images with any camera he chooses!! But still, it is obvious that this combo is capable!

Thank you very much, rxgolf. Much appreciated! You are way too kind!
I just don't understand their results if they think this lens is not good. I must have a different Z7 and 24-70 f4s to the ones he is using, but then as you say, so must so many other people have different Z7 and 24-70 to the Northrup's as from what I have seen, everyone else is getting super results as well!

Yes, you're right, we already know what Lance can do, but still so mach detail and sharpness at long end, wide open...we got to say, that lens is something!
The background rendering is lovely too!
I have not used the new sensors found on the A7III and A7RIII (which do look fantastic), but the detail this sensor puts out is amazing...look at Lance's photos above for reference. If the A7 series is better than this Z7, it may be by a thin margin, which makes the other intangibles (color, grip, feel, lens compatibility, etc) much more important in my decision making. The sensors are so good nobody looking under 100% magnification will notice a difference all else being equal.
The 35 1.8 S lens is also amazing. It is really blowing my mind
I certainly would agree with you after doing some pretty serious looking the last few days. Of course it is difficult to be critical with images online, but the cameras you mention certainly seem to differ more in execution than in final output. If it comes down to user experience then that can certainly be a very individual thing. Having said that, without bashing anyones choice the Nikon easily wins for me if indeed it has any of the general functionality of the high end Nikon DSLRs I have owned.
As a generalized question, I remember when cameras like the D800 first hit the scene many of us were convinced that with that many Mp's we had no choice but to use a tripod to get critically sharp photos. If others remember this, was that simply a misconception or has IBIS and/or lens VR made it possible to shoot much higher Mp bodies handheld and get sharp results?
Just a thought when looking at the post here.

It is not a misconception but technique for high MP is more important than ever. I have come from A7r/A7II/A7rII, D810 and now D850. With higher MP's I now opt usually for 1/2.5x FL and sometimes this is not enough. Having IBIS is great but it depends on your subject and sometimes you still need the higher SS's. Having VR is also excellent and can dramatically reduce your min SS to maybe 4 or 5 stops similar with IBIS. With uber sharp lenses and high MP's there is no short cut to being mindful of good technique.
Really enjoying this camera. The feeling in the hand for me is the best of any camera I've used in the past. I've been playing with several F mount lenses on the adapter, not an issue with any of them. The Nikon 58 1.4 and 105 1.4 are really special lenses. The 28 is no slouch either
Dumb question... but how do I know if the IBIS is on/working? On the menu (pushing on the i button) I have the hand with vibration symbol marked as on. But when I use IBIS (or the equivalent) with my D850 when I turn it on on the lens (24-120) or on my Olympus M43, I can see and feel it when it kicks in.
With the Z7 I don't 'feel' anything and it doesn't seem to allow me to hold the camera at lower speeds. Do I need a Z mount lens for this?
