Yes the question if you are a full time pro NPS, CPS and Sony Pro service is critically important. For many of us there is question whether you qualify or not so having excellent service centres is also so important.
The stock eye cups with the D750/D810 and D850 are not ideal and I have replaced them also as I wear multi focals.
I wonder what the bubble you are seeing on the periphery of EVF? Maybe part of the manufacturing process since it is not viewable.

I just double checked the Z7 I kept, and I'll be damned if I can't see the bubble anymore. I wonder if it went away on its own?
I survived the firmware update to 1.01 though haha. It may just be my imagination, but AF seems slightly quicker now.

You are right as there were sometimes small time outs with the AF on the D850 and it has been resolved with 1.03
Ha funny thing is I always assumed that the occasional AF lockup was user error on my part, as it always resolved itself by turning the camera off/on and it happened so rarely, but good to know that since I've upgraded my D850s I (hopefully) won't have that issue anymore.

Perhaps others are aware of this, but VR is terrible for sharpness at long exposures.
Scanning film at base ISO, such that I do, results in timings in the seconds per exposure.
This one was 6 secs @ ISO 64 @f11. With VR on (in body, 60mm Micro G lens, FTZ adapter), it's blurry.
With VR off, sharp.
I am using the ES-2 film holder, 60mm G lens, FTZ, Z7, hand held:

Question - what's everyone doing for bottom plates / l-brackets that would be compatible with the Z?
Smallrig solution seems... tall.
RRS is not available yet and will cost an arm and a leg. Any other options that would make sense? Btw will any arca-swiss compatible plate work with the RRS lever clamp?

The Small Rig bracket is tall but the plus side is that it looks to give you the extra grip for your pinky finger and allows removal of the FTZ adapter while the camera is still attached to a tripod.

Thanks for this...I've played a bit with exactly the same configuration but was initially working on getting the color right (using Negative Lab Pro with great success). I hadn't tried turning off the IBIS...probably wouldn't have ever occurred to me that it would have this impact.

Negative Lab Pro is fantastic! I've dumped my old conversion process and use this 100% of the time.

I'm starting to wonder about the abilities of these reviewers. The Z7 isn't the D850 or D5 for AF but it is more than adequate for almost all realistic scenarios.
I also wonder how much crazy action people are shooting. I know we all want to act like everytime we see wildlife it will be a Natgeo fight scene but the fact is it is mostly portrait type shooting outside of BIF.

I am finding AF hunting in indoor lighting at night even after turning Low Light AF on. (Like photos in living room or Dining table with overhead lights on) Am I missing some AF configuration?
I have Z7 with 24-70 and have not upgraded latest FW yet

What AF mode are you in? During the night, in rooms lit with only overhead lights or lamps, I find that the Wide AF point works the best. Even then, like any camera, the AF will hunt on subjects that have little or no contrast. As long as the subject isn't moving super fast, dynamic area AF in AF-C works acceptably well in low light

so weird. i used the z6 for NHL hockey last night with a 40-800 5.6 AFS, and i felt the tracking was fine. somewhere between d750 and d850. i was able to get great shots. not sure why he wasnt able to get images of someone slowly walking toward him. white on white, people passing in front, i didnt have much of an issue using "DYNAMIC AF" my only complaint is i wish i could make the Dynamic Area AF area smaller, it currently cover 20% of the frame, id like it to be customizable like the Dynamic AF of the d5 or d850. id love to have D9 or D25 pts with the z6. BTW i love the non blackout of the Continuous H+. i knew if i had the shot, without having to review, i actually shut off image review of the z6. Old sports shooting addage "If you see it in the viewfinder, you didnt get it" (due to the mirror blackout), with the z6, if i see it, i know i got it.
this shot is a bit less contrasty, not bec of the camera, but bec it was closer to puck drop, and there was haze throughout the building for the preshow.

Completely agree - watching Nathan struggle with getting focus in situations where his D800 would work fine leads me to believe it's user inexperience, and ultimately not a very accurate review. I had focus issues in AF-C the first couple days I had my Z7, but shooting with it for more than few hours got my keeper rate up closer to what I'd get with my D850. D850 ain't going anywhere, but I'd use the Z7 for any of my paid shoots without question.

exactly, you have to change your thinking to the AF systems, they are different. have to learn the new AF modes. the z series for me, within my kit, is supplemental. As was the fuji system i had, and the a7iii, i used them for travel and for video. now, i can just stick with one brand, and share glass. has anyone ever tried to use the a7r3 or a73 for sports? i have, and it sucks balls. eye focus doesnt work when people are wearing helmets. i will still use my d5, and my d850, but ill add the z6 when i need the silent shooting or the video, or the lighter load, case in point, im working a convention next week where ill be shooting for 12hrs and walking for atleast 15 miles, ill def be bringing the z6 as my second body and leaving the d850 with grip at home. that extra heft can be felt over the duration of a day. and i find the z6 files, better in the high iso's than the d850. though they did test the z7, and not the z6. ive used both and id say the z6 AF is better.

I am using AFC (AF ON) Single Point for virtually stationary subjects (like people sitting and talking etc). Where my
D750 seems to focus nearly instantly Z7 is hunting for a second or two.
I am just using Z7 exactly the way I shoot D750, so I believe my be I am missing something (user error) but not able to figure out what. Will do tests tomorrow again and see
