In fairness will we all have to wait till after the 27th of September when the non-prototype cameras are out there. Everything else is speculation or from ambassadors or people that held the camera for a few hours in hand.
Yes, once the cameras are out in circulation, everything will be quickly known about it's strengths and weaknesses. I am hoping that the camera proves to be up to Nikons reputation for quality and performance. That is why I have one on pre-order. Wish I could take one on my trip to Teton, and Yellowstone tomorrow.

I appreciate your thoughts but I would not rely on AF in almost dark fluctuating lighting conditions. I have had both the A7s and A7rII and I would always revert to MF in these stage video clips. It is hard enough to capture stills let alone video
It looks like an almost impossible AF environment to me. Thanks for your input.

I don't understand the ship dates, is that the date nikon ships to the vendor?
or the vendor will be getting items in advance and will ship on that date?

so you think the ship date is the date the vendor will have the goods then.
that is cool. I will have to ask my vendor to overnight the goods to me for friday then, I have a wedding the following day and would love to have an extra tool in the bag.

Hey let's take what looks on specs to be high-end travel/landscape camera and throw it into a fast paced, fluctuating lighting condition and then complain about it.
BTW, my CRV just can't corner as fast as my S2000 so it must not be a very good car . . .

good luck to all of you.
My vendor is just a 45min drive and he confirmed he will receive my gear in the span of that day, the 27th, so I will go after my work to pick it up. I have EN-EL15 batteries on charge so will play with it in the evening for sure Exciting times. Boys and their toys you know.

Exactly! It is only a camera and the real strength is the skill and understanding of the photographer. As with any camera system you find the workflow that suits and if it does not move on.
Having used a lot of MILC I found you must find how to work with the AF system for your style of photography. The A7r/A7s/A7II, A7rII are great cameras even today but you work with them. I had the Xpro2/XT2's and also excellent but the AF you needed to adapt a workflow. I attempted BIF with the XT2 and XF100-400 and it did not work at least for me This is one of the reasons why I moved to the D750 missing FF but more importantly just the simple fast dynamic AF. It just worked and was so cheap to pick up a used D750. There is a place for cheap FF DSLR's as well as MILC's.
In spite of all the conjecture I feel the Z7 and Z6 will be excellent for most but it will like any MILC the Z7/Z6 will have their strengths and limitations.

With the 500pf arriving earlier than expected for some, I suspect the Z7 will also arrive early in some countries. This isn't saying all orders will be filled.

Initially release date here is September 21st then a couple of weeks ago, it was moved to 27th .
I ordered mine through local store so hopefully I will pick mine up on 27th.
I ordered Z7 with 35/1.8, 50/1.8 but at this time, it is possible that may be only one prime and 24-70 will be available on that date. Keep my finger crossed.

Anyone who has the chance to try either Z model out, I'd love to know if the shutter is 'totally' silent.
I'm a Unit Stills photographer, and I'd been waiting to see if these cameras will be totally silent on set like Sony models.
Right now I have a D810 and shoot with camera blimps. I'm hoping I can eventually add a Nikon Z in the future. I didn't want to spend heavy cash on a completely new system if I don't have to. I'm not a fan of the Sony camera's ergonomics either (especially knowing I'd be shooting on set 12 hours a day).

My question would be, if anyone tried to look into LCD and VF with polarized glasses, how does it look like?
I hope, Nikon didn't screw it up, like Sony did on A7III LCD.

I have had hands on the Z7 on two occasions. I tried the silent mode, and yes, it is absolutely silent. I actually had to review the images to be sure I took one. In todays live talk from Nikon there was a photographer who shot a movie set like you want to, and she said it was absolutely silent as well.

Is it selectable like Fuji X-T2, you can choose silence, or some artificial camera sound to mimic shooter. I used it a lot with electronic shooter, so I knew it went on.
