Thanks for the photos!
Haven't got mine yet but tried a demo in store two days ago.
Trying to get a price match but is turning out hard.
Is it easy to use a CPL on this lens?
I found that my Singh-Ray (both different kinds of CPL and Vari-N-Duo™ Variable Neutral Density with Polarizer) and my Breakthrough CPL X4 in 77mm could be mounted and accessed with the sliding slot of the lens hood though I have yet to use them. If you check the review of the on B&H Photo about the Breatkthrough filter that it doesn't allow for attachment of the lens hood, that is incorrect. I was able to mount the hood after installing it and the Singh-Ray filters.

Thanks Rich. I'd be going for a X4 myself.
OK. Just don't tighten the filter too tightly to the lens. The filter is thin and it can be difficult to grab the base and it is or will be difficult to remove the filter from the lens if you mount it too tightly to the lens.

I bit the bullet and feeling much lighter now too
My 100-400 GM should be with me by Friday.
Now I need a good 77mm CPL for it that will work flawlessly with the lens hood on (using the little CPL port on it).
What brand are you using and does it work well?
I was thinking of getting a Breakthrough Photography CPL if I manage to find one used. Otherwise what are my other options cheaper than $150 USD?
Thanks!
I use a B+W XS-Pro Kaesemann (or however that's spelled) CPL with mine. It's the XS version, so it's very slim and not much to get grip on to turn it, and there's also something wrong with it, where it binds in one place, so it's really hard to give it a full rotation. Other than that, it works well, though, and I don't think this is typical. Also thinking of upgrading to a Breakthrough, though - I inherited one of their UV filters on a used lens I bought, and the craftsmanship feels really high, so I've been wanting to try out their polarizers, too - hoping it will be smoother/easier to turn. Results from the B+W are fine/great - just hard to use sometimes.
I love my 100-400mm. Use it all the time. I'll post a bunch of photos, since I shoot something pretty different than most owners here..

Really nice shots and thanks for the B+W comments.
The Breakthrough filters are very good, I have both the X4 CPL and 10stop ND in 49mm. But they are very dear and after all the money I've spent this month on the 100-400GM, 2x UHS-II cards and VM50/1.2, I'm a bit reluctant to spend another $150 on a filter when I can grab one used for BW for $50 or a new one for half the price of the Breakthrough.
On top of that, it would take up to 3 weeks to get it here in Australia and I'm heading to NZ late next week and want to have the CPL with me.

Mine is on the truck for delivery today.
What camera settings do you normally use for best tracking performance? I want to shoot surfing this weekend since that's pretty much all there is where I am at the moment. Going to NZ north island in exactly a week though and hopefully see some wildlife there.

In my experience, for tracking either Zone AF or Wide AF. If the background is fairly clean and not so distracting, Wide AF is better and otherwise, Zone AF is less sensitive to busy background.
Did you also get the FE 1.4X TC? It is absolutely worth getting that TC to increase the reach. The penalty you pay in both AF speed and IQ with that 1.4X TC is negligible.

Thanks!
Didn't get the TC (yet) but will test out the lens the following days and for a week in NZ and then make a decision on that. Will most likely end up getting one.
