I’m in the same boat , I just don’t have a big need for a macro lens so I’m going to pass on it. For portraits it’s a AF lens. But having a small 100mm or so MF lens for my MF kit but not expensive would be nice as my longest there is 75. Wish list item though

FWIW, I shipped a package Monday, in what the service reported as 2-day Priority Mail service, and it's still en route today.

USPS has cut back due to the reduction in regular mail volume, and they get slammed during the holiday volume rush.

I would be surprised if many of us get our lenses today.

I enjoyed shooting with the lens again today around Ebisu Garden Place (close to home) at Tokyo. New samples here (all are OOC JPEGs with my A9 (shot in RAW+JPEG)):

https://photos.app.goo.gl/1xBzKCrQgM8kG3or6

Really liking the lens and the shooting experience with it. It has nice sunstars starting from f2.8.

Well there is always the Olympus OM 100 f/2, which is one of the Oly OM system's best lenses. It controls CA fairly well for an older lens, has lovely bokeh, and a nice short MFD of .7m. It doesn't handle flare all that well but a nice lens and pretty small. Philip Reeve reviewed it for his website if you want a nice detailed characterization of its performance. For me this CV 110 f/2.5 macro looks wonderful, but I will keep the Oly lens for use on my Fuji GFX where it makes a wonderful and small 75 f/1.5 equivalent.

garydavidjones wrotePacking for a globe trotting trip depends on the style
of travel. Lengthy cruises and bus tours with definite
daily itineraries allow one to leave most equipment in
safes in cabin, room, or front desk while bringing
along lens/camera combos that are suitable for
that day's activity. For example, our last trip (5-week
cruise around Cape Horn from LA to Buenos Aires) my
wife and I brought 3 cameras and six lenses ranging
from 24-70 mm to 100-400 mm plus primes.
7D2 was useful for its built-in flash for inside photos
on the ship. (also carried external flash)

I am always mystified about how many fredmiranda.com
commenters say they bring second-rate, lighter
equipment to record once-in-a-lifetime, expensive
trips. If we have relatives in tow, we lend them
camera/lens combos (not latest models/don't sell
old equipment) so the relations can't complain about
photography hobby.

Obviously if we're going on a winter trip to Puerto
Vallarta to warm up, we would minimize.

Independent travel usually necessitates minimizing
the amount of equipment. We dress down and
put equipment in non-descript backpack when not
using.

Only theft we have had was a point and shot camera left on the dresser
of our hotel room in Greece in 1995.

After visiting over 100 countries in 25 years much of
our enjoyment is viewing photos and videos of these
trips.
Hi Gary,
What is your best travel gear? I'm curious why you posted this on the Voigtlander 110/2.5 APO thread. Which one of your lenses do you think will perform better than this one?

Personally when traveling I prefer bringing the Zeiss 85/4 ZM as my telephoto needs for its superb image quality at only 300g.

Hi Fred,
I am in transition from Canon to Sony and possibly Nikon (trying out Z7). However,
am having trouble adapting to mirrorless. (an old dog not good at learning new tricks)
was responding to Guy's post on this Voig thread about his possible travel kit. Should
have quoted his post. For most trips abroad, Sigma 50 mm Art for Canon mount, Canon 24-70 II,
and Canon 100-400 II plus my wife's Canon 40 mm pancake lens). Canon cameras
used are my wife's 7DII, 5D4, and 6DII for low-light and video (in my opinion works as
well as the highly promoted 80D). My wife has been using a wheelchair for several
years so we hang camera/lens bag(s) off of it.

Have been using Sony 90 mm macro which is not as easy to use as the Canon 100 macro I used
before transition. Am interested to see if the Voig 110 will be better. arriving Tuesday.

UPDATE AS OF 9:50 DEC. 8 THE LENS IS IN LONG BEACH! DELIVERED 1 PM TODAY!

Really good job with these pics. Lens looks good with seemingly excellent (to me) color rendition, sharpness, and drawing style. The mechanical vignetting is a reasonable nit to pick, but still I expect this will be a pleasure to use and likely a keeper for me. I am looking forward to comparing with my GM 100STF.

That shop is getiing discussed pretty heavily here, as well as their free overnight shipping. I am just passing along my experience. Not as advertised, and excuses to boot. Shipping label was created Thursday night. There was plenty of time to get this in the mail for Portland OR next day delivery from CA.

Guy and others have posted about thier poor delivery experiences from various places.

Im not saying anymore about it. I wiill be refusing delivery of the lens, since CameraQuest didn't hold up thier end of the bargain. Happily shoot my Sony 90. Peace

USPS tracking is not at its best this Holiday season.

Your package was at your door this morning, next day delivery.

USPS attempted delivery. Apparently you were not there.

Best to All,
Stephen

Yeah, last lens I ordered from Cameraquest, placed the order @ 11am EST and it got to Philadelphia less than 24 hrs later - the tracking info wasn't updated until that evening.

Was almost creepy how fast it came.

Only spent about 15 minutes with it, but it seems excellent. I like the weight, and the focus feels smooth and damped, with just about a perfect level of resistance.
I like the separate lens cap for the hood too.

Feels very solid.

++ To Stephen at CameraQuest for getting these out to us so quickly. We might have died, of want, otherwise.

Must stop reading this thread....since getting the 65/2 it has hardly left the camera body but the longer focal length is certainly enticing......must resist.....damn....
