As it seems to come with its own lens foot, it will certainly not be lightweight, in my opinion. Filter size is 105mm, too. The 85/1.4 Art is already 1.1kg, so I guess it weighs around 1.3-1.5 kg.
If the weight is in the range of 1.3-1.5 kg this will be almost too heavy for many photographers. With lens foot attachments I always take them off unless I really need them. I have the 24, 35 and 50 Art and fortunately weight/size is very similar to all other FF f/1.4 lenses. It will be interesting to see out the 105 Art specs out

Hmm I had forgotten how crazy heavy the Sigma 85mm is. Much heavier than the Nikon 1.4/105!
Lets hope they try to match the Nikon in weight. I could just about deal with a kilo for special occasions. I'm not up for a 1.5kg behemoth.

What are they thinking with this heavy pos?
We have a native 85 1.4. already. Who would buy this?
On my short list for sure pending, IQ, FE AF consistency and, price. I really like some of the Nikkor 105/1.4 images I've seen. I never expected to see the same specs for FE anytime soon and here it is! As I wrote earlier in this thread, Sigma is going to join the FE party with a bang and these specs sure got everyone's attention.

Lens hoods are useless today.
This is the reason why they are free with new lenses.
I have to respectfully disagree. I always use lens hoods when I shoot outdoors to prevent lens flare. I'm not particularly a fan of this look, but some photographers are. It's not necessary indoors, but it aids in protection if you happen to drop it. This has happened to me in the past, and it's a small cost to replace the hood, saved my $2200 lens. By the way, hoods are not free with new lenses. They come included with all lenses, which in included in the price. Take telephoto lenses for example, replacements hoods can exceed $600.
Can the Sigma 105/1.4 Emount measure up? I sure hope I get the opportunity to try. I've got a few cameras waiting for such a FE lens sans adapter on the Sony A7r3 and the A9.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that noticed that it has a 105mm filter thread, if those pictures are correct. Now that’s some big filters and cases you’d need.
85/135 Art are all heavy. I don't think this will get out of that form/weight from the other 2. HOWEVER, i'm a sucker for Art lenses nowadays. I'll get this one for sure.
Not for me. It’s too big, too heavy, too specialized; but I’m happy to see Sigma entering the Sony game. Definitely a lens that will produce tremendous images in the right hands.
If it really is going to be FE mount that makes up for the missing OS which stopped me buying the 135 f/1.8. Looks like it'll be a twin, they might even share the same front element as they are exact same size - 135/1.8 = 105/1.4 = 75mm. That would save development costs, so I'd expect same pricing too give or take $100.

It shouldn't be heavier than the 135 f/1.8 unless they've gone nuts with the optical correction and it's going to be a lot dearer. This should be a virtual twin to the 135 f/1.8 except a bit shorter so I expect ~1.1kg max.
Since this is still a rumor... Is anyone else wondering if the Sony mount of the Sigma 105/1.4 Art isn't actually the FE mount, and it's the A-mount, instead? And maybe the rumor just got twisted somewhere? Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass?

Very possible this could be for the Sony A mount...Actually it would make more sense based on previous Sigma releases.
Darn. This is the opposite of what I was hoping Sigma would do. My hope was for smaller, very high image quality versions of their Art line designed exclusively for FE mount. I’m still hopeful this will happen.

I expected this too but the rumor is 105mm front element. The tripod collar on this lens which is missing from the 135 supports the theory that this will be MUCH bigger.
