Also, updating the MC11 to allow for 105mm f1.4 use made it stop working with my Canon 200mm f2L IS.

Pretty sure this forum is a pseudo support group for whores of the lens such as ourselves. You shall not receive judgment from this guy.

Just spoke with Adorama again and they are now saying next shipment is expected at the beginning of next week. Still haven't heard anything else from Berger.

The only other angle I have left to work is my buddy who got his from BH last week. Trying to convince him that he likes his 85 and 135 better and that the 105 just doesn't make sense (hence selling to me). lol.

Hey tell him I still have some 800 numbers in New Jersey if he don’t cooperate. Make a deal he can’t refuse. ROTFLMAO

It’s a joke folks . Relax no need to call the FBI

What’s killing me is they say the FE as the same time frame as the Canon and it’s not . Nikon is available but I won’t buy the Nikon mount

Glad we talked about this. I just checked my rental and had it coming too early. I need everything in hand by the 13th. So have a little more time.

With both the 135mm and 105mm Art lenses I find the Metabones works better in all conditions. Eye-AF and Lock-on AF work in continuous. The Metabones also works better in low light for some reason too.

Have you tried continuous AF with the MC-11 and Sigma 105 yet? If so how'd it compare?

Be nice to know as well on A7rIII and A7III as well.

I’m also wondering since the GM 400 coming they did this update. You would think it trickle down to other bodies

Just tested it. I'd say it's a hair behind the Metabones adapter in keeping up.

I have an A7RIII as well. Just tested the Sigma 105mm and Metabones adapter in continuous Eye-AF. Farther away it's great but once the subject gets to within about 10-12 feet it can't keep up. I rarely use continuous AF on my A7RIII as that camera for me is generally for static portraits and landscapes. Eye-AF in AFs is razor sharp with both the A9 and A7RIII.

Is the AF on this lens terrible?

None of these people are testing the native Sony lens, and most aren't even using the MC-11, which would offer the best compatibility...so no one knows how the AF is on Sony.

Ok because the reviews for the native sigma 35mm seem to be terrible which is a bit disappointing. I’m not sure why this would be any different. Unless a firmware update is expected.

The AF on the native sigma 35mm is fast on AF-C but hunts slightly (we're talking a fraction of a second) on AF-S, but since I'm a back button focus guy I never use AF-S so it doesn't matter much to me. This is on an a9. I'm happy with my copy, no complaints here.

Eye-AF works like a native lens as well.

Well just to play it safe I pre-ordered the Sony mount at Amazon which does not charge me until ready to ship than I can switch payment methods or cancel without dinging my credit card. I usually buy with my company debit card. So I can change this if I get one sooner. You use your debit card they take the money so I put it on my Amazon card to play it safe.

Some Canon lenses do AF better on Sigma MC-11 and some Sigma lenses work better on Metabones. With each FW upgrade the AF performance is generally getting improved. But we cannot universally say that the Sigma MC-11 offers the best compatibility for Sigma lenses. Before the most recent FW upgrade, the AF points using the Sigma MC-11 were limited more to the central part if you are shooting landscape while using the Metabones, you get the entire area of the PDAF. The most recent upgrade of the MC-11 addressed that issue. Again, the status of the AF performance using these adapters undergoes a constant and almost "never-ending" development.

Yea and it makes me crazy.

Not to mention the bodies get updates by new models so your kind of always in flux. At least its not going backwards.

In general, yes, it doesn't go backwards. But there was an upgrade from Sigma about a year or so ago that went backwards. Well, I don't remember exactly what it was and it disabled something and people went beserk, trying to switch back to the previous FW.

BTW, the case I was referring to above about the AF points limited more to the central area using the MC-11 was with the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 Art. Ironically, that lens on Metabones came through without any issues, in AF-S and AF-C.

I have tested both the MC11 and Metabones and for the two Sigma lenses in my possession (135mm and 105mm) the Metabones works better.
