Hey guys, nice shots of the bikes and cars. Grant, I love the truck...
OK, I have to brag a second. A week and 1/2 ago I shot a private school basketball tournament. LOTS of games and I was plenty beat by the end (it lasted a week). Anyway on Saturday 2/3 Tracey drove all the way up here to help me out. I was sooo grateful. Anyway, she took tons of good images but for some reason this shot just stands out so I thought I would brag on her a bit. We also did some stuff from the balcony looking right down on the goal. Those didn't sell well but they were sure fun to shoot. I will try to post a couple of those later.
So anyway, the only problem from Tracey's viewpoint is that the really good Nikon shooters (which she is) only get 2 good images a year and here she is already with her first (couldn't resist!)
5D and 24-70 go basketball hunting. I have to work harder with this camera to keep my horizons straight and I also have to be a bit more careful on focusing (which is probably a good thing!)
Anyway, the first shot is at 28mm and the second is the cropped for printing version
Just wanted to get a heads up on those planning to make Callaway this coming Saturday. For those folks making the trip, if you'd like to meet for breakfast and maybe carpool ?, I'm located near the Georgia Farmers Market.
Looking forward to seeing a few faces this weekend, it's been way too long!
Gary, Hope Daphne is okay and surgery is not required. Keep us informed of her progress. We will miss you at calloway.
Marvin, Welcome to the Atlanta Forum. Hope you can join us at one of our outings soon. Professional Photo Resources - www.ppratlanta.com is a great place to rent equipment at reasonable prices.
Tracey, Mark, John and Rob, hope to see you at Calloway Saturday.
Gary, sorry to hear about Daphne...hopefully, not her shooting arm and no surgery is required. Let us know how she's doing! We'll miss you at Callaway.
Well Gary, sorry to hear about that. Hopefully everything will turn out ok.
(Stealing Tracey's idea) I noticed on the Callaway site that there is a raptor show at 12:30 & 2. The weather is a bit iffy but if the rain holds off maybe we can catch one of the shows inbetween shhoting butterflies

Thanks for all the well wishes, it means allot. We have surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. I got to see the x-ray today.......nasty break and it's not her dominate arm. Daphne is in very good spirits, even made a few jokes....could be the meds! Good news is the doctor said she may be out of the cast in as little as four weeks after the procedure. I also got high marks for the splint I applied, a plastic "Flamingo" serving tray that I taped her arm to......hey they even took photos.
Thanks again.........have a great shoot.
Cheers
Gary

I guess it is time to get down and dirty with the actual plans. I just checked the website and the GArdens are open from 9am-5pm. I believe Grant and Mark are both camping tonight and John and I are driving down tomorrow. It is only about 45 min-1hr for me. John...I am not sure how far it is for you.
As Mark stated, the Birds of prey shows are at 12:30 and 2. They are calling for a possibility of rain tomorrow, though.
I know there is a little restaurant right on the main road, but I can't remember the name of it. I had dinner there during the MS150 last year and I remember it being especially good (of course shoe leather would have been good at that point!) I am not sure if they are open for breakfast. If anyone is up for breakfast and has ideas, please throw them out!
If you can remember the name of the restaurant outside Callaway, why don't we meet there at 8:15? Or, we can meet for the buffet breakfast at the Callaway Inn which is just past the entrance to the gardens.
I'm in. I will be on the road by about 4:30. I told Tracey I would call her when I get down there and see what the plan is. I will see what I can find out about breakfast places as well.
Once we make a decision I will try to track Grant down and see if he wants to join us.
