Great time at the zoo yesterday! Sorry you guys weren't able to join Bob, Gary and myself. Gary got us into a private training session with a beautiful North African eagle. It absolutely made the day. I'll post some photos later when I get home from work.
We're thinking of making a trip soon to Callaway Gardens to check out the butterfly exhibit. If anyone's interested, post a reply.
Great Job..........those are images you should be proud of for sure. The one of Abby the Hornbill is just plain incredible. I think you got the hang of panning in servo mode.
Man, I HAVE to go hang out with y'all someday here soon so I can get some pointers on how to shoot. I can not believe how sharp all of y'all pictures are... Beautiful pictures Bob and Gary.
I should post this disclaimer..........I'm not responsible for any damage to your equipment.
Nice shot and thanks, I look forward to shooting with you again in the near future. My wife has always told me that I'm one of a kind, she has a strange look in her eye when she tells me this!!
I would be interested in a trip down to Callaway, if you all go on a weekend I'm not working Wish I had checked the thread about last weekend. I've been wanting to play with the 100-400 at the zoo. .
Callaway should be great through the fall. It really takes most of the day to get a good look at everything. I really need to work on my macro skills and the butterfly house is my first choice. John, if you liked shooting the birds at the zoo, do not miss the free flight shows, I believe there are three per day.
I am book next weekend(21/22)........should have a free day the following weekend.
I've been watching and debating with myself. The biggest pro: Another opportunity to be with nice people sharing a common interest.
The cons: Just sold my 500D together with the 70-200 f/4 on Buy and Sell. (Bought the 70-200 2.8 IS from B&H). The 500D was for the f/4 and wouldn't fit the new 70-200. Wildlife is my favorite but not all day shooting butterflies. I'm not sure if I want to expose the camera and lens to very warm and damp conditions as the 20D is not water resistant like the 1DMarkII. I've heard some negatives about this. I have a hilly 8K race to run the first Sunday in June, so I don't want to be on my feet all day the day before. (I'm pretty good with excuses, if I do say so myself.
I'd like a return visit to the Zoo during some weekday or an outing to some good spot like a State Park, weekday or weekend, to try real wildlife shots so maybe we can organize that after Callaway.
