Berry has some big event in early October. I will be heading up there the weekend after that event. Since we are in the middle of our soccer season, Sunday will be the only day I can make it up there. Also, I like to get there for sunrise to catch the morning light. After 10am or so, I may start shooting some IR.
I shot Suwanee Day as a volunteer. I was there from 8AM 'til 10PM. It was a long day. I was able to shoot Atlanta Rythm Section and other stage acts up close. I also shot some fireworks for the first time with a DSLR.
Hey Robin, some nice stuff in there. Looks like you had a long day.
I didn't realize that you had picked up the XTi. How do you like it so far?
Have you seen the new sigma 50-150 2.8? Last year as I was shooting basketball and wrestling I thought that a 50-150 would be a perfect indoor sports lens on a crop camera. It isn't IS but it is also only about 600 bucks. Not bad for a full range 2.8.
I haven't decided but I'm pretty sure my wife is going to need one for her 20d...

I ran up and down a hill all during the parade to get a high perspective shot and street shots of each entry in the parade. I took some photos from the top of a building that was under construction. About the third time I climbed the stairs, I thought, "Elevators would be nice". Yeah, it was a long day in the sun.

I got more keepers than I thought I would from the night concert shots. I think the new autofocus is helping. I will know a little more after Friday night's football game.

Put it right next to the pool table, beer fridge, and table saw you got her for her birthday, Valentine's, and Christmas.
Noice Robin, beleive it or not after living in Suwanee all these years I have never been to Suwanee Day. Our Cub Scout Pack marches in it every year, but we miss it due to soccer games. I would love to go, but I want my sons to understand they have a commitment to the team and need to be at the game.
One of these days I would love to spend the day photographing Suwanee Days. How did you become a volunteer photographer? Did they have a limited number of positions?
Robin, Great shots, None of me unfortunately....
We went up that night to see the Atlanta Rhythm Section. I saw many a white lenses while there for a few hours....

I filled out a volunteer form on their web site. In the comments section, I told them I wanted to help with photography. When they contacted me, I told them again. I was given contact information and went from there.
We could have used another photographer this year. We had a really good plan. It was tough to execute due to the fact that the stage was busy the whole day, the parade started late, etc. I think we did ok though.
You can see what they used of mine on this page(the ones with the credit, "Photo by Robin Walker"):
They did a little editing(brightness, jpeg compression, etc.) on a couple of them. They will also use the photos for the SuwaneeDay web site and other promotional material for next year.
They told me that Andy Velo called and wanted the photos. I told them to refer him to me. I was contacted by three parents of other performers that want photos.

Thanks.
I ran into another friend of mine there. A Nikon D200 guy.
I spent part of the time photographing the band and part ascending to the roof of the new building to get some high perspective shots and photograph the fireworks. Where did you sit?
Nice photos. Some of those models look like they have done that before.
Just a reminder: Georgia Aquarium annual passes go on sale to the public on October 1. If you want to renew your pass, you might want to do it now. Once they are sold out for the season, they are gone until the following year.
I am going to photograph the Buford vs. GAC game tonight. Buford hasn't lost a region game in 6 years. GAC has a very good team and just transferred in, probably, the highest rated high school running back in the country, senior, Caleb King. There should be scouts and lots of press. Wheeee!!!
