I am up for getting together on Sunday. I would like to park, too. Last time, I got there after the roads were closed and I parked about a mile and a half away.
I am not sure. Last year, I didn't come with the group. It looks like Smokey Bones and the Honda dealership aren't very close together. Anybody have any ideas about logistics? I am open to suggestions. How did it work last year? If I get there early enough to park at the Honda dealership, how will I get to Smokey Bones and back? :worried:
According to the website the riders are due to finish in Alpharetta around 4:45-6. Logistically speaking it is kind of pain. I thought Smoky Bones would make a good meeting point. Anybody who still has a car can hopefully drive all of us to one of the parking areas, then we can walk to the Honda building. I think it was about a mile if I remember correctly.... from where we parked last year.
I was thinking Smoky Bones around 1 would be good.
Hello, I'm new to posting on the site. I just descovered this Atlanta thread. I live in Kennesaw.
Has anyone seen a detailed map of the 6 lap circuit the riders will be making around Alpharetta. I've shot the last two years from the same spot and wanted to try something different this year.
Well, I guess I'm gonna try to park at the Honda lot. If I park there at 7:30 in the morning, I don't know how I can get out before 12 hours later. If you see a blue gray Toyota Highlander when you get there, wake me up. I'll bring a book.

Well, I'm sitting in a Honda dealership parking lot on Alpharetta Hwy. I hope I am in the right place. Somebody call me. :worried:
Edit:
I moved. That dealership was 3-4 miles away. Now, I am parked just across Haynes Bridge Rd from the finish line. I'll try to head up to Smokey Bones before 1:00. I may not due to the distance.
I thought about going too but since I am still waiting to get the dream lens ( 70-200 with TC 1.7) I thought that my 24-120mm was not capable enough. Post some pics as sone as you can.
We didn't have the greatest spot. Had to fight with the pro Photographers getting in our way. Robin brought a step ladder which was great but when I was using it I was having problems with my lens. Here are some of mine. I didn't do that well.
Judy and I were at the "Taste of Forsyth" at the Cumming Fairgrounds today and found out that the Tour de Georgia was a block over from the event. We got in my truck and went out Castleberry Road to try and find a place to watch them come by and got stopped at an intersection where they were blocking the road. I jumped out with my 20D and 70-200mm and she took over the drivers seat while I got out and waited until they came by. Here's a few that I got in just a few minute span at the top of a very steep hill. I got back in my truck without her ever having to move. They kept the road blocked the entire time I was photographing.
