For anyone interested - Georgia World of Wheels Car Show at the World Congress Center February 17-19. Adults $14.00 See www.autorama.com for further information. If you like photographing custom cars this is the place to go. Probably need something pretty wide for lens selection. I will probably go on Friday the 17th or Saturday the 18th.
I'd like to join you guys... If anybody wants to meet and carpool down (HOV lanes!) from the Duluth area (or along I85 South) let me know- I've got plenty of room.
I talked to Grant and we are going to try and meet about 10 AM inside the Aquarium. There are some benches at the bottom of this photo in the central part of the Aquarium. We can meet at the benches as you come into this area.
If you are coming, you can PM me for contact information. I'll give you my email and phone number. If you leave your phone and email, I can call you if things change. Otherwise, just meet us at 10AM. If you are coming earlier or later than 10, let me know and we'll arrange to meet you then.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to it.
Marc, let me know what time you are coming and going. A carpool might not be a bad idea. Parking is $8. I am planning on getting there about 9-9:30. I live in Suwanee.
Later...Robin
PS. Remember...metal detectors...no pocket knives, lighters, etc.
I don't think the crowds will be near as bad as they are on the weekends. Hit the Ocean Voyager section first. This is where the lines start to form.
Come on down. The more the merrier. I have some photos on pbase with exif data to give you some ideas for focal length, ISO, etc. when choosing lenses to bring. Most of the pictures I took were with a 24-105mm f/4 IS lens. You may want to go wider or longer. A 24-70mm f/2.8 would work real well for most of this. I shoot with a DR XT, so, a full frame body would be a little different. I might bring an EFS 60mm f/2.8 for a couple of macro shots.
Harvey, What time did you want to go? You will be driving real close to my house in Suwanee. You could drop your car off at my house and ride with me. Traffic stinks in Atlanta. I was going to leave about 8-8:30AM. Let me know.
Just noticed your post. Thanks for the offer, have a friend flying to ATL Friday evening, so if I decide to go to the Aquarium, I can continue from there in the afternoon.
Just saw Lowbyte's post, do I need to call and make a reservation ?

I have an annual pass and went on a weekend when they were sold out. I didn't have a problem getting in. If I did not have the pass, I would not have been able to get in.
I called to see if I needed a reservation for tomorrow. I told them I had an annual pass and they told me that it was not near as busy Mon-Fri and that I didn't really need one, but, they would give me one if I insisted. If you don't have an annual pass, it wouldn't hurt to make a reservation, especially on a weekend/holiday.
Had time to process a few after the Aquarium meet. Mark, Robert, Robin and I met and photographed today and somewhere along the way we lost Robert. "Where are you Robert"? Even on a weekday it was pretty crowded but I think we all came away with some good images. We have Mark 1 and Mark II from previous meets so now we have Mark III. I really enjoyed the company and the Aquarium. For those that haven't been, you need to go. Even with the crowd this is a great place and well worth the cost and time to visit.
