Nice macro shot, Stacy. Looks cool. There are tons of lighting rigs just for macro stuff... it's crazy.
I'm off to shoot a wedding today... by myself. That's right, it's a friend's wedding too. Seems like suicide, eh? I'm fairly certain I can handle it. Got my equipment all laid out - rented some stuff from PPR to play with too. Should be fun
Wow...Colin. I shot my first wedding solo today too....also a friends. It was a blast. I sure can see how the true wedding togs are artists.....man o man. You have it all planned in your head and poooof! Out is goes when you get there.....
Off to Vegas tomorrow...doubt I will take a laptop so no pics from me for awhile....
Well my wedding went well. What's everyone else up to?
Tracey, how's the new equipment working out? JB, where'd you disappear to? Mark, how's Nashville treating you? I think I'll be up there June 20 and 21 for a Gibson event - where in Nashville do you live?
You know, its funny. I have no weddings during these summer months but come August/September I have 3. Oh well. Summer vacation for me! Glad to hear both of ya'lls went well.
Sounds like maybe there needs to be a ATL people Nashville photo walk at some point since almost everyone seems to be there a lot as well! (I'm up there usually at least once a month)
Hi guys. Glad the weddings went well...I'd love to tag along and be a second shooter at one of these sometime if anyone ever needs one
A guy on the people forum recently posted some really cool shots of his baby geckos. I have been dying to try it ever since. This is our pet Bearded Dragon. Ben got him for Christmas last year. He was actually a very cooperative model. His color is a little off right now, because he is preparing to shed. This was kind of a warm-up. I want to do it again in a couple of weeks after he sheds. He is a very pretty orange color then.
Great stuff! Can't say I have any suggestions, just a question - what are you using as the reflective ground (as well as the white background, if different?)
Thanks! The white stuff is just some foam core board I bought at the drug store on my way home tonight. One of the sides is pretty shiny. I was hoping I would get a little reflection, but wasn't sure if it would work out or not. I have read a lot of threads about seamless paper and plexi-glass...I would love to try that one day!
Great shot Tlong. I love working with reflections!
I use plexiglass or even glass. You can buy these cheap. When I work on black I have one piece of glass covered in window tinting and it makes a great reflection. But on white, I just use plexi or glass. I find though that the way my light hits it matters even more than what is under the subject. To much light pointing down at the surface dulls the reflection. Shoot your light more straight on the subject and less downward. Same true for shooting light towards the back and not so much forward. Just a few things that work for me, hope that helps. *shrugs*
For some reason I had to unsubscribe from this topic and resubscribe again. I noticed I wasnt getting any notifications again so I tried that, and sure enough once again it started working. =/
I only suggest a mirror cause dental lab shooters use them to shoot the restorations on sometimes. If the angle is right and the light is right - its a cool effect.
I agree jbear. Its much like the same effect you get from glass with window tinting on it which makes for a mirror effect. I like the tint because its black but if I were looking for the same effect, not black, I would think a mirror would work well. But when I want this white background with white bottom, plexiglass works very well. I think what you use all depends greatly only the effect and look you are trying to achieve right?
I'm around some. Not shooting as much as I'd like, but shooting more than I have been over the past couple months
How's everyone's summer going? I'm working full time and loving the stable income - there's just less time to do other non-work stuff. What's everyone else up to?
