p.63 #4 · Pre-orders open! Sony A7R III and FE 24-105mm f/4 OSS lens!
Just shot with an a7RIII a few hours ago, but none of the images transferred to the card because it was a locked down pre-production model. But just shooting with it, very quick focus and eye-af tracking. Rolling shutter is still an issue. It's basically a mirrorless a99II but better in every way other than -EV performance.

Thanks, but what does “but better in every way” mean? Better than the A99II or better than the A7rII? And what do you mean by “other than -EV performance”? That it cant AF in the same low light as the A99II?

Usually means they can’t meet all the pre-orders in the first wave. So if you where after a certain time frame ordering you will have to wait. Each store will get less. Why I did not order from B&H. Too many orders coming in at once and even though you hit the bell at 10 maybe 500 others did as well. I knew this would happen.

I see, sorry to hear that. There haven't been many reports of delays. I guess their apology is more an indication of what's to come than for what's already happened.

Same here in Finland. I'm number 1 spot in the queue for a large retailer, they originally said November 15th, but the date seems to be pushed back. Some European customers have received camera and/or notification that they will get it today or next few days, but I have not heard anything about deliveries starting here.

Another problem is folks are pre-ordering at 3 diffrent places which throws the numbers off. I think a better policy from ALL stores mandated by the OEM is a 100 dollar non refundable deposit. Of course that’s like saying total peace on earth. Not going to happen.
I’m stuck with my order at Amazon as I already paid down the costs by 400 dollars by applying gift cards to the order. I’m using a debit card to pay the final bill and need to get it under 3k since that’s my daily limit. Avoiding any problems ahead of them shipping.

That's a fair policy IMO. Because here's the thing, many people who pre-ordered from multiple spots will not be able to cancel in time, will end up with multiple units, and will end up returning them.

Who are they apologizing to? Who's shipment has been delayed?
That Sony announcement was for Japanese market, indicating that there's not enough volume to meet all the received pre-orders from the first shipment (for Japan) on 11/25 (Japan release date) so the orders will continue to be fulfilled in order they arrived past original release date.
Same could happen elsewhere too but the announcement was for Japan market only.

In most cases the 3 store pre-order just simply does not work as usually each store gets a fair amount of stock. All this does and it may have a negative effect on actual distribution from Sony to each store. The small shops will get less like everyone else but will hurt them more as maybe 25 customers ordered and they only get 3 . thats 22 pretty ticked off customers. If the count was right they may have gotten 8. Problem for distribution is the count is not real.
