Side note: SonyAlphaRumors's "rumors" are totally made up and should only be viewed as entertainment. They've been so wrong the past few months it's not even funny.
Wait waht? You mean this isn't an A7SIII, and an A7III? The A7RIII is coming in 2018.
Good thing we knew the 24-105 was coming too.
But hey, it was SR3 that a long tele prime was coming.
But all in all I'm happy to see this released inline with A7RII pricing. Not a guarantee, but I'll be pre-ordering the A7III in line with A7II pricing when ever it comes.

The bummer for me is app support as the SR app is very useful. I am guessing that the pixel shift feature will be useful for landscapes with very still conditions on a tripod, though. This is a tough call. I have two A7RII cameras. Sell both? Sell one and use one as a backup (different batteries tho)? Keep them and wait for a higher MP body A9r?)?

I really wanted more resolution.

I hate using tripods, but for those who do, the pixel-shift resolution mode will be a sweet upgrade.
Wants more resolution but hates to use a tripod....
You do realize that in order to really find that additional resolution noticeable, you are going to either use a tripod or start shooting at a loooot faster shutter speeds when hand held? In other words either increasing your ISO or only shooting in really bright conditions. You really should be shooting on a tripod anyway if you are trying to actually utilize MP that are in that realm.

Question re pixel shift, since it has to be combined in software (Sony software?), how much of an improvement is this over shooting longer focal lengths and stitching?

This is different wording about weather resistance than they have used before (sealing vs tight joints and sealing around buttons and dials)
Highly durable and operable in tough conditions The α7R III functions reliably in challenging environments. Its body is fortified by lightweight, high-rigidity magnesium alloy top cover, front cover, internal frame, and rear cover. The number of lens mount screws has been increased to six for enhanced durability. Major buttons and dials are sealed. Sealing is provided throughout the body to minimize entry of dust and moisture (28)
(28) Not guaranteed to be 100% dust- and moisture-proof.
"Major" buttons and dials are sealed (not "All"?) "to minimize entry". Sounds like more Sony-speak concerning dust and moisture.

Yes that's a given outside underwater cameras. On this camera though they are specifically saying that have seals throughout compare to previous generations. I'd love to see a teardown by Lensrentals to see what this means though
Oh, you will. You most definitely will.
But let the record show the bar for 'improved' is low because the A7rii has basically none. It's the only camera we have a 'corrosion package' for: the list of parts (there are 8) that we have to commonly replace in the A7 series from corrosion.
