Retraction. Not sure if I experienced a temporary glitch as described above or user error, but after a few more patient/vigilant tests seems the Batmax dual charger is performing as it should and as described in their literature. Now I see the 4 LEDs are lighted up and stop blinking when the the battery is fully charged. Note: With this device when the batteries are fully charged the 4 LEDs remains lighted until you unplug the device from the power source.
Mine seems to be working fine as well. Nice compact dual charger.

OT, CIPA News Oct 2017:
'Compared to October 2016, only 78 percent of DSLRs were shipped globally, but 112 percent for mirrorless, indicating that mirrorless is continuing its rise while simultaneously cannibalizing market share from its DSLR cousins. Most of the mirrorless shipments are going to the Asia region, though, which still accounts for more than 50 percent of all mirrorless cameras shipped. Globally, mirrorless is now 36 percent of the total market for ILC.'

No surprise, considering how many mirrorless cameras I bought!

This has been sitting on my desk at home since Monday afternoon. Of course, I left town a business trip Monday morning!. So I sit at the airport ready to come home tonight and I’m finally letting myself get excited to open this box and start playing.
Thanks to all of you FMers for your glowing reports and helpful hints. I just hope my flight isn’t delayed! Sorry if this shows up as too large an image but it’s from a text message to my phone.

I'm still waiting on my B&H shipment that left their warehouse a week ago. They tell me UPS is 1-5 business days behind, so if it was supposed to be here, say, Monday, then it's feasible it won't be here until tomorrow. I'd check tracking myself, however it isn't working for my shipment.

In NJ area I have a few friends who are all waiting on shipments that goes out for delivery every day for the last 10 days... When i saw my package get delayed, I immediately called UPS and had them hold it at a hub. it still took 2 days, but i ended up getting it in person at the local hub. My friends still haven't gotten any deliveries. I'm glad I picked up instead of waiting.

I just got back in town from my trip to Italy and found the box with the A7riii. Of course, I am now crushed with work and have no idea when I will get to play with the darn thing!
I have ordered the RRS L bracket, but anyone have any idea how long that will take to become available? Should I just order a different one? Tripod use is important for me and I want to try out the Pixel shift feature. I don't have an A9--only two A7rii (one of which I will sell when I get a round tuit....)

Of course, the flight was delayed home, traffic was not cooperative, talked with the family and finally opened the camera. Fortunately, I had charged batteries. Just a couple of snaps in jpeg. Lot's of setting up to do yet but I just had to take a few shots. Love at first click!

How do you like your 65mm apo lens?
I have a Zeiss 35mm 1.4 ZM and Zeiss 50mm 1.5 ZM C Sonnar lens with techart adapters on my 2 A7r III bodies. I also carry a Loxia 21 mm lens as a 3rd.
I plan to add a 4th lens for a portrait and am conflicted between the 100 STF lens and an apo lanthar as a general purpose lens.
This would be my small size camera kit.
The 50 1.5 C Sonar serves wonderfully as a portrait lens as it has significant field curvature wide open that gives it an ethereal quality. At narrower apertures it flattens and is as good as the best 50mm lenses with edge to edge sharpness.
I have heard wonderful thinks about the APO lanthar not only as a macro but as a general lens. But concerns are that the focal length is close to the 50 mm lens.
I do have other lenses like the Sony sal 135 1.8 which I love and the the canon 85 1.2 II for portrait purposes.
So I don’t know if I should just save the money and call it a day.
I am a sucker for lenses with “character”
