Looks like copy-cat Fotodiox released a Pronto Mark II version:

Thanks Fred.
I couldn't find what weight it supports.
Supported cameras include A7R II, A9 II, but not A9.

It looks like they didn't change the way the focusing unit extends, so I'm sure that wobbling is still an issue after prolonged use. On the description they say 600g max.

Very much agree. There's nothing that might indicate a change in the focusing mechanism, which suggests that the wobbling problem has not been addressed. And I remain convinced that a 600g maximum is wildly optimistic.

This system has been devised for short FLs and light lenses, there is no getting around that I guess. A similar extending focus system that could support heavier lenses of longer FLs would probably render the whole setup much heavier and even more expensive.

P.S. supported cameras include also the A9, besides even the A1 (which is good news I guess, means that the system still work with the newest Sony AF system).

Techart's lack of responsiveness on their adapter made me consider the Fotodiox mark II version. I just received it. And where my Techart wouldn't achieve critical focus on either the a7r4 or the a1, the Fotodiox works very well with a just a few quick shots out of the box. All shot at f/1.5 except the tree shot at f/2.0.

Test lens is the CV Nokton 75/1.5. I love reducing the MFD with the combo of lens at MFD with the adapter. Focus speed is not too shabby and at all compared to Techart.

f/2.0 I believe

Thanks for the update confirming the adapter works well with the A1. I think you may still have the 35ZM, can you confirm it works well with that lens?

I wish I still had the 35ZM but I sold it some time ago. Going to test with the CV 35/1.2 v.II and some legacy lenses as well but I expect similar results.

A few more with the Nokton 35/1.2 v.II. Most shot wide open. Firmware update was very easy to version 1.03. AF works at least as well as TAP perhaps even better. I played with some AF-C and tracking and it does work but nothing like having a sony AF lens and certainly not expected. I doubt I would use the adapter in tracking situations but it's interesting to see it give some positive results. More study is required.

Bob, did you use the Techart firmware updater or do Fotodiox now have their own updater?

Fotodiox uses a bin file that you download to your computer. The adapter has a micro USB port that you plug into the computer which recognizes it as a drive named Fotodiox. I simply drag the file to the Fotodiox drive, let it copy and I'm done. Very simple. The latest bin file is 1.03.

Supposedly either but I’m on a Mac. Those are the instructions given by Fotodiox.

That’s a huge improvement. Can you also change the default focal length assignments?

Honestly I am waiting for the M-E-mount Megadap adapter. It looks like it fixes all the issues I had with both TechArt and Pronto.

Yes, similar to the TAP you can change the assignment. It also has a function button that I have to play with.

Yes, Pronto II. It feels more solid to me than the TAP. Focus speed is at least as good as TAP. AF-C works and I can get some tracking as well. Far from being as good as native but it works.

Does eye focus work? The website only mentions face focus. I'm also amazed that they don't have a rubber cover for the USB port. They mention the battery drain problem in the 'notes' and removing and reinserting the battery as a fix. Weird that they didn't fix the problem or these are simply notes copy/pasted from the original version.

Have they announced work on it? Searched and could not find anything about it.

Face focus yes. I'm not sure yet about eye focus but will try today perhaps.
