It's amazing how the Fotodiox Pronto copied the entire TechArt Pro hardware and software. It can even be updated using TechArt's firmwares!
The only difference I saw was that the bottom is metal instead of plastic which increased the adapter weight by about 10 grams.
BTW: The Pronto is prone to wobble as well since it copied the flawed design where the driver unit has no top support.

Copied wobble design as well?

Lol, they did well their homework..

Just notices that even mine has a micro-wobble, guess 1mm or so, did not notice if it was from the outset or caused by the less than one month usage.

Guess my Contax 35 1.4+adapter is a bit too borderline for the TAP, even if I support the lens with the hand basically all the time.

I have formed the idea that, notwithstanding the 700g spec, one is better to limit itself to max 500g (including the adapter) to not stress too much the mechanism.

Brief test report of a "stress test" with a C/Y 100-300: seems to work pretty at infinity until 220mm or so, then focus quality begins to degrade, to the point that at 300mm focus is noticeable softer than manual one (at the end the TAP is not designed for that). Besides, at longer FL, only the very center point works. A quick test at 10mt and longer FL revealed to me that the TAP confirmed a focus that was totally off, so I wouldn't rely on it at all. Conclusion: at least for me it doesn't seem worth for me, way better MF+magnified focus peaking.

Hi,
G'day from downunder!
Thanks for the great resource you have built here on the Techart Pro adapter.

I just wanted to add that for Minolta MD lenses,
the Fotomix MD - LM adapter fits well on the Techart Pro.

I purchased mine from seller crazyphoto800 on the "bay" for about US$20 incl postage.

Perhaps someone could add that one to the page 1 FAQ?

All the best,
T

Hi,

Was looking for an inexpensive Contax C/Y to LM adapter and couldn't find a readily available one from the "certified" list on page 1, so went for a Gobe C/Y-M one.

It fits snugly on both ends, anyway it doesn't positively "click" on the lens side (a C/Y 35-70mm f/3.4) - will need to be somewhat careful when operating the zoom / focus ring but it isn't a big deal, since the close fit means you should apply a significant torque to dismount the lens.

All things considered, I'd add this to the list of compatible adapters on page 1.

Thanks, added to the adapter list.

Thanks, but you've said that the lens doesn't positively mount to the adapter, that one has to be somewhat careful in using a very popular C/Y lens with the adapter, and that significant torque is required to dismount the lens from the adapter. All things considered, I don't think it's advisable to add the Gobe C/Y->M adapter to the list.

hi guys!
does the TAP's moving element covers the distance of the Summilux 35 FLE throw?
and the same question for the Summilux 75!
thanks to all in advance!

Although the TAP might cover the focus distance of the Summilux 35 FLE, obviously that lens has floating element(s). Your question suggests you might not have read the relevant section of the FAQ:

"For lenses with a floating element (FLE) design (i.e. the distance between lens groups is adjusted as the lens is focused in order to improve performance at close range), the TAP will have an effect on image quality. In this case, if using the lens at close distances, it will be preferable to pre-focus manually before allowing the Techart PRO to achieve accurate focus."

Although I have no experience with the Summilux 75, with lenses longer than 50mm it is generally necessary to follow the same procedure (albeit for a different reason) i.e. pre-focus manually before allowing the Techart PRO to achieve accurate focus.

I contacted Gobe about the issue. They admitted I must have received a defective unit, and promptly sent me a replacement which works flawlessly! Now my Contax lens mounts to the Gobe adapter with an audible click and there's no play between them, nor between the Gobe and the Techart Pro. Maybe now you will consider adding it to the list, as these inexpensive adapters appear to be well made and supported.

Thanks for the update. I've added the Gobe adapter to the list.

Hi, was interested in a PK->LM adapter and stubled upon a pic in a forum on a K&F PK->LM successfully attached to a lens with TAP, so guess it can be added too (it's usually even a bit cheaper than the Fotodiox equivalent).

Sorry, although there are K&F adapters on the list for other mounts, so far I've only included adapters based on first-hand users reporting a successful experience.

Sure of course, but at least look here:

https://www.talkemount.com/threads/anybody-try-the-techart-pro-af-leica-m-adapter-yet.15740/page-9

Scroll down to the user Hin Man post, looks quite an evidence to me (in fact was enough for me to order it, but then changed my mind on the lens and didn't do, so therefore I cannot report a personal experience).

But of course your call

Thanks for providing the link. That’s definitely pursuasive so I’ve added the K&F Concept PK->M adapter to the list.

Anyone able to expand or explain this?

The techart pro on the A7III - There is NO OPTION to select MF when the techart is mounted. The only options are AFC and AFS.

I have a custom button assigned to AF/MF Ctrl Toggle and whilst this powers down the TAP and allows manual focus it is NOT in true MF.

I can demostrate this by activating AF/MF Ctrl Toggle and putting the TAP into supposed MF and then magnifying the EVF image for manual focus. There is a delay on pressing the shutter whilst the EVF reverts back to no magnification before the shutter is released.

If i use a complete manual lens with a dumb NEX adaptor then this delay doesnt occur and shutter is released instantaneously.

Similarly if i use a native AF FE lens and activate AF/MF Ctrl Toggle then i can use magnification and release shutter instantaneously.

Any ideas?

Pretty much been the TAP behavior for a while. Probably has to do with imperfect implantation of Sony lens control algorithms and / or limitations of Techart’s control algorithms. Even though it looks like an adapter to us, the Camera sees it as a lens.

Anyone here has any experience working with Techart support? I have an almost brand new ta-ga 3 adapter. It worked for a week and then stopped working. It seems the motor driven screw used for af cannot drive the focusing screw. I mailed their support mailbox but they ignored me. Pls help!! Thanks!
