I will, and I will send another email to Techart, but it seems that a lot of people have problem with upgrading their adapter, and this is not serious.

Their Facebook page's private messaging is more responsive than e-mail in my experience.

I'm having an issue with strong back focusing using a Contax C/Y 28/2.8 Distagon in Fotodiox C/Y to M adapter in TAP (updated to 6) on an A7RIII. Focus is quick and gives audible confirmation with green focus squares, but focus is way off. Anyone else having a similar issue?

I just updated the TAP Firmware to version 6.0.0 that was released in January 2018 for the use with Sony A9.
A9 Firmware was also updated to V2.0
Just want to confirm that all works fine now, fast and accurate AF as I need. (I use flexible spot as set under menu point 1.4 of the A9
So I can get a Noctilux back in my lens stock again :-)
Test shots so far were done with the 50mm 7 artisans.

Is the wobble still an issue, or have they addressed that in someway? Asking as someone looking to buy a new one.

Cheers

I'm new to Techart. I found the updater in Google Play, but I cannot find the configurator. Is it still available or is it part of the updater and I'm missing it?

How much use have you given it though? Ans what's your most used lens on it?

You might want to read the first post in this thread.

I read the post before I posed my question, I thought that was evident, if not, my apologies.

On the TechArt download page, I could see it on the page the software listed, but it would not download.

In Google play, I could not download the Configuration software. Being new to the device, I thought it may have been taken down.

Since I last posted, I can download the Configuration software.

Thanks for your post, it was really helpful. Do you have any other helpful tips?

Hello everyone

I have another issue with my techart adapter : after the wobble issue, the motor has just stop working.
Actually, it worked but only turning in one direction only (ie to the minimum focusing distance), then stopped.

I opened the adapter and manually turned the geerwheel to its initial position, but when focusing again, it again turns toward minimum focusing distance position, then stopped.

I send an e-mail to Techart (as after the wobble issue, they kinldy proposed me a replacement of the adapter, but I declned as the problem was solved afterwards), but no answer (it has been 3 days now).

I'll keep you informed if they come back to me with a solution, and if it can help.

Anyone having experienced such a motor issue ?

Best regards

Hello

Since my last post, no news from Techart. They just did not answer to my numerous e-mails. Did they disappear ?

It's hard to get a sense as to how many people are using the TAP without issues and how many have the kinds of problems evidenced by the prior post, but reading this thread I'm inclined to go native for AF uses.

I'm a very happy occasional user with no problems, using a second TAP after they replaced my first one about 18 moths ago. I mostly use manual focus primes, but find the TAP a cheap alternative to a native autofocus for sports and family events.

Of course, native is always better. TAP gets into the mix for number of special requirements and will never give you even close to native performance. Think about old screwdriven Nikon lenses. This is the best you can hope for.
And it will not exclude manual prefocusing on longer than 50mm lenses.
And I doubt that it is that good on UWA lenses as on 35mm.
It’s just an option to improve/speed up focusing on some manual glass you want/have to use for some reasons.
It’s an extra tool with its limitations which can be handy if used right. But not a replacement for native glass.

As I head out with a (screwdriven) Contax G 45/2 mounted on an A7RII + TAP, I'd suggest that one will never find a better explanation than this for choosing to use the TAP as well as native FE lenses.

Would love to see member's reviews on Sony A7iii + TAP (Eye AF, AF speed compared to A7ii etc.)
Having A7ii + TAP now and happy to use this combo with Leica M lenses from 50mm through 90mm. Also use the camera with Zeiss 135 f2.8 Rollei QBM in manual mode as TAP is useless here.

There's a good chance that TAP will perform very poorly on the A7III initially. A few firmware update cycles may fix it.

It can have some limited users speed-up nailing focus, prefocusing and then using AF, particularly EyeAF. It works for me, but I feel that 135/2.8 is too heavy for TAP, and inevitable will result in wobble. In fact, this lens heavy enough to slightly bend outward M mount from tap. So, I decided to stop using it with TAP.
