Joseph, thank you for posting photos! Some of us do appreciate it.
Shooting one at ISO 100 and the other at ISO 3200 That will make a huge difference. Also it would probably be a good idea to have the same backgrounds.

Then buy the 105mm and shoot a comparison for yourself. I'm sure your 200mm F2 will still be an amazing lens even if the 105mm is close. Don't let it bother you too much that a lens might be almost as good as the 200mm F2 or that some might actually even prefer it to the 200mm!
Looks like unless you enjoy bullhorns or need the reach-the 200F2 is now in a state of obsolescence-especially for portrait shooters. Nice!!!! Thanks @Joseph.

Ya, there will always be a market for the 200mm F2 for sports and just pure corrected sharpness & contrast but I can't see it staying in my camera bag for long....

Shew, calm down. I'm just pointing out the obvious that it's not a good comparison if you shoot at ISO 100 on the 105 and at ISO 3200 on the 200.

Actually, it's a fair comparison. ISO has nothing to do with BG blur... all it does is add noise. Plus, the Df and D4 have the same sensor. Are you really in this much state of disbelief that a 105 1.4 can hang with a 200 f/2? I understand some people still believe the earth is flat, but man..wake up! it's 2016.. this is cutting edge technology right here. FASTEST 105 in production. Just amazing piece of glass. Don't fight it man, go with the flow and enjoy what we got.

But I will tell you this again.. This 105 1.4E is AMAZING!! Sooo happy I sold my 200 f/2.

I concur.
no need to inflame the 200 f/2 guys
anyone who spends that much on a lens, is prone to being a little sensitive.
200 f2 vs 105 f1.4
they are completely different tools
similar to RPG vs M16.
one can do a little more damage than the other, but both are dangerous.
one is a little easier to manage on a daily basis.
therefore, the 105e may become the new "go-to" special weapon for the mobile guys. guys who shoot weddings and engagement sessions, people who shoot their families, or do portrait sessions with kids (who don't want to be so far away).
I think of it as the 85L
while the 85 1.4g is amazing, it doesn't have that "it" factor.
the 105e does, it's just special.
main take away regarding the 105e is that it has the swirl and bokeh of the 58mm 1.4g, but the 105e is sharper wide open.

To be fair many of these 200/2 defenders are just fearful that the "momographers" will be able to compete without owning the more $$$ glass-I get it and sympathize-but I doubt many of the "momographers" will even justify the $2200. I think the concern is overblown. Fools be momographers competing
