-FOV seems longer than 105. My estimate is it's a 115 or even 120 ish. I'm used to the FOV of the 135/2 and this one feels very similar. Will check again when I get home and compare them side-by-side.
-Build-wise, IMO it doesn't feel like a $2200 dollar lens. More like $1300 and that's pushing it. Sorry, but I'm used to vintage MF Nikkors that are built like tanks. HOWEVER, I kinda like the light weight nature of this lens. Can you imagine had they used pure metal on it? Then everyone would be complaining how heavy it is.. just like the complaints you hear on the 200/2's weight. This is perfect.

-MF ring is surprisingly smooth. Not MFNG smooth, but smooth and precise for a modern prime.
-Not even comparable to a 200 f/2. Let's not go there. Totally different lenses here. Both are great.
-Rendering... hmm I've only shot a couple of frames as I'm in the office, but so far it's freakin awesome! It can cream the BG even at 20 ft away. Not quite 200/2 cream, but very close. It's WAY more portable though, and that's a huge plus. So the way I look at it is that, NO you won't get the "obliterate BG" of the 200/2, but YES, it gets to travel with you anytime, all the time. In fairness, even the 200/2 produces busy backgrounds if you're not picky with what you shoot.
-Sharpness... Super sharp.
-AF speed... not bad, really but not fast like a 70-200 VRII. Similar AF speed as the 1.4G primes. No complaints.
-Feel... feels like an 85 1.4G with a girth of the Sigma 24-105 (82mm filter). It's a huge lens. I feel like it's gonna rip off the front of my Nikon Df. Definitely not a one-hander shooter though. Left hand needs to cradle the lens because it's got some weight to it.
I haven't looked at anything on my computer yet.
sharpness isn't everything.
but I def agree. on my D810 screen, I can sense that sooc, this lens is a serious step up in sharpness, when compared to my 58mm...
and slightly sharper than my old 85 1.4g (which was quite sharp), this is at 1.4.

Thank you Joseph for sharing your initial thoughts on this lens. Also am happy you posted images of it mounted on your camera as I have the same Df... so now I know how it would look together

Just go camp out at the nearest UPS depot and wait until the trucks comes back from deliveries. Anything to get that lens a day sooner!!!! I feel the pain.

It's for sure got some swirly bokeh in some shots. Here is one that isn't an interesting shot except for the bokeh.....And a good one to make up for it.
