Thanks guys. Couple more.
Last one is little front focused, but there is some 58G swirl i think..?
These are the type of images I was waiting to see. The bokeh and the smooth transition are fabulous. I was on the fence but these images have sold me. I can't wait to see what others share as well. Very well done!
Nikol can you comment on the focus speed? I see you've captured some action shots that have me wondering what your thoughts are on how well if focuses. Also did you do any AF adjustments?
I saw two images taken with this lens wide open at a Chinese website that linked to flickr.
Thought I'd share them for those who are interested.
Image of the beer bottle demonstrates how impressively sharp this lens is capable of, provided you nail focus. Which brings the image of the motorcycle model, it isn't as sharp to my eyes (probably due to movement on the photographer's part) but nevertheless serves to demonstrate the wonderful bokeh this lens is capable of producing.

Looks like it suffers from cats-eye bokeh, shame.
What do you mean shame? That's pretty much what some of the high end lenses are now doing. My Carl Zeiss Milvus 85 mm F/1.4 shows the same cat eye Bokeh as well. It is not a shame! Honestly, how many times are you going to be taking portraits of people with city lights behind them? Especially at nighttime. Most of the time it's going to be grass and trees etc.

It doesn't hinder my needs at all and have gotten really quick with it. I get a better keeper rate than the 85 f1.4G I used to have.
Back on topic, the youtube review above pushed me to cancel my 105 pre-order and go the Zeiss 135 ZF.2 route to go with my 55 Otus.
You're gonna love the Zeiss 135. The color, micro contrast, sharpness, build quality, etc is outstanding. Should be a perfect match for your Otus. The Zeiss 135 is my favorite lens and I think some would say it could be considered to be a mini chub (minus the AF, obviously).
It's very clear Mark_L doesn't like this lens. I've been following this thread looking forward to the pictures from the photographers here but every time he has posted(at least from Page 12), it's all negative. Pretty sad, really totally of no value to people interested in the lens.

14 pages of nonsense, one page of actual images
I have a suggestion: you could edit your first post at the front of the thread and add a link to page 13, so that people who are new to the thread can easily find the page where the actual user images start?

No, based on price and samples so far, it does not appear to be a lens I will purchase.
I didn't realise this was a circle jerk hype thread for this lens that almost no one in this thread owns yet. Maybe it is because my balls are round...
I really want this lens, but I could never even get my 135L to be in focus, my chances with this would be pretty close to 0. Maybe I'll rent it in the future to try it out.
It will be interesting to understand how the shape of those boked highlights evolve as aperture is closed. Other reports led me to think that they get mostly circular at f2.5. I'll test that on Sunday.
The 105mm 1.4 looks really good, it would be the perfect combo with my 58G, too bad...i have already the 85 1.4G!
But who knows what the future may hold...
