It's here now. Couple first shots from backyard.
I think that this one focuses little faster than any other 1.4 or 1.8g.
Shoot some more->

First review:
Shows comparison with Nikon 85/1.4G and Tamron 85/1.8VC.
There are some D5 RAWs included.
I feel like the guy shot as fast as he could, just so he could be the first one to upload a review of this lens. I wanted to tell him to calm down and compose slowly
On the 3 comparison shots, there is a significant difference on background blur between the 85 and 105 - just look at the railing on the left. Thanks for posting!

The review is ridiculous. The guy clearly wanted to pretend they were all close enough to justify a cheaper purchase. He didn't even try to show how different they could look. He was trying to make them look the same.
Compared to the video, the photos are in a more realistic background and scenario than a city street skyscraper. The images are beautiful, as is your daughter. Can not wait to add this lens to my arsenal and get some use of it while I spend the next three years in Europe.

I canceled mine not based on just this review. I haven't seen anything this lens excites me about so far. It seems like it could be mediocre just like the 58G (I know there's a lot of fanboys of this len in here but I've given it a fair chance with 7 copies and found all of them to be horrible on the higher resolution cameras). I'm not saying I won't pick one a 105 later on but have lost interest for now.
The latest youtube review could have been a lot better in many aspects but the output samples have been consistently not that stellar through multiple people now.... I may change my mind as more here get them though.
The "review" is not bad. It shows 105mm f1.4 is clearly sharper and background blur is more pleasing. The photographer simply doesn't find it a compelling value compared to Tamron despite the latter being softer/warmer than the other two because of his preference that way. At least this is my takeaway of the video.

Mine too
I really don't think it will be DRASTICALLY better than the 85 F1.4. Obviously, the background blur will be more pronounced.
I did not pre-order... but I may be a buyer later.
So far I love it. It's not as heavy as my Zeiss Millvis 85 which weighs 2.6 pounds but this one balances with the D810 nicely. I did have to use a +3 AF fine-tune to get it tech sharp! Whenever I get some photographs other than the inside of this camera store, I will post them. It is a beautiful linens and it reminds me of the Canon 85mm F/1.2, although I've never had that lens it just looks like it from the front.
